I remember one of the shows When Larissa, and John both drank (each) a whole pint of Jack Daniels' minutes before they started the show. Then changed my views on the punk rock blues. My favorite rockers, I salute. R.I.P. Larrisa Strickland.
the guitar at the begining of "Crawl" gets me everytime---sometimes i listen to the song over and over an over. thanks LH for all the memories! Larissa is missed but its a consolation to see all the pics posted. rip
Thanks a million for putting up this profile! "Life of Crime" is my favorite album of all time. I was 19 years old when it came out and to this day it sums up nearly everything I expect from music. I don't have any tattoos to show off but there's an article I wrote in remembrance of the Hyenas: "From a Laughter to a Scream", soon to be published by a German magazine. Those who are able to read German can find it in my profile's blog.
That picture from Larissa w/ Paul Stanley below is sure a classic! I finally met John B., Ron and the others this saturday, that was hell of a show. I was sad to hear about Larissa's passing on the other side. More than a legacy of great riffs, she'll leave great memories in the hearts and minds of her beloved ones. RIP Larissa. M.
i just learned of this tragedy in the past couple days. it's made me ill for these several days and will probably make me damned ill again when i think of Larissa's untimely passing - and i will. Larissa had a life before music - art - and it earned her full-access-backstage photo passes to the *first* KISS tour at Cobo hall (Detroit,MI). Creem mag printed her pic w/KISS backstage. Larissa was then a sophomore in h.s. (iirc). on the next monday southfield highschool went berzerkerz. Larissa moved to NY to do art for Casablanca and/or KISS for a while.
Last time we saw each other was when she came over to my place in A2 totally lonely - abandoned.
this is very difficult for me to write, i think you understand.
all she ever wanted was to 'be part of,' 'to be included IN' - and all the guys had run away that night (late summer 1995). from my perspective Larissa contributed far more quality and quantity to art and music with her energy and her magic than she got credit for and she was feeling abused and left out more and more often.
she needed to be noticed.
now i feel lonely, totally lonely. i'm happy to hear she got married. i hope that was a GoodThing (tm) for her. good night sweet princess; better dreams this time, i hope.
Thanks for the add. Over the history of rock n roll alot of bands have come out of Michigan, and the Laughing Hyenas are definately one of them. I think. Well anyway...
Love ya, mean it!
