Laugh Like Pa got together in the last few years of their high school, and started as a 3 piece, mostly playing covers. Gus Lambie was on drums, Owen McLauchlan played guitar and Huw Streater played bass and sung lead vocals. They soon aquired a lead singer, and another guitarist, Andy MacKinnon. The band practised regularly in a room in Owen's house, and played loads of gigs, some in school, but also rocked many venues around West Lothian! The lead singer soon parted from the band, as he wanted to pursue an acting career, and Laugh Like Pa played for the best part of a year as a four piece, with Andy and Huw singing. Then late in 2005 the band decided they needed a full time lead singer, and Simon Jones, a friend of the band since he came to Scotland from Johannesburg early 2005, asked if he could give it a shot. He came and "auditioned" and was really good, and the guys offered him a place, which he happily accepted. Owen also switched to playing keyboards at this point, as he'd been learning piano recently and had found out he enjoys it much more than guitar. Since then they have been practising regularly, at Gus' house and in practice studios in Edinburgh, teaching Simon the songs, and are now starting to play gigs everywhere!
