Profile of a professional artist (abridged version): I like to buy things in 2’s and so have lots of items in 2’s, it’s the compulsive need to have a spare. I get overly attached to objects. I walk 1.5 hours everyday with my i-pod to my studio, this I particularly enjoy on sunny days. I like coffee but can’t drink it because it gives me serious heart palpitations and makes me quite high. I love vintage clothing and vintage style underwear. I’m really quite bad at maths but that’s ok because my sister is quite good at it so she checks my maths. And to completely contradict the last statement, in my last 'real' day job I used to measure and write the formulas for tiny jewellery components and never had any problems. I’m dyslexic but I got grade A in the majority of my written work at university. Part of me is heart shaped when it shouldn't be, its a physical anomaly that no one can see. I have always loved the sound of heeled shoes. I find the sound compelling and as a teenager would hammer metal segs (like minute horse shoes) on the heels of my shoes…just for the sound of metal on pavement. I can draw. Yeah...I'm not 90, I'm way younger...but old enough. I used to make up buckets of human synthetic sweat in a lab which we stored in the fridge. I sell my work all over the world in outlets and on my etsy shop. I can pass for being 21 which amuses many people. I have a sensory instinct that makes me choose items based their visual and tactile properties. I’ve been vegetarian nearly all of my life, I love to eat healthy junk. I have No sense of direction whatsoever, it takes me ages to find anywhere new, I can’t read maps and I’m claustrophobic…the tube is my idea of hell! I always need a guide, (preferably a patient human one). I used to do ballet. I have a studio at the cool and architecturally sound persistence works where I spend 5 days a week creating and making. www.artspace.org.uk Persistence Works So far my work has been featured in approximately 11 publications within the last year. I'm addicted to my job, I always set myself way too much for any human to do in a day, but am always amazed at how much I can cram in 24hrs. I’m a perfectionist. In summer I average 4 - 6 hours sleep a night. If its odd, eccentric, awkward or contradictory, I’ll probably like it. I'm not afraid of manual labour. I don’t like being told what to do mostly, so being my own boss is pretty good. I like to make artwork that is dysfunctional, disordered and odd yet completely desirable. As a child I had a phobia of overflowing water in vessels and would completely freak out if I thought a container was getting too full (sink, toilet, twin tub washing machine). I’m arts geek, I love anything to do with creative arts, its my passion and obsession. I prefer cherry's to strawberry's. I'm a bit obsessed with material culture and the object subject relationship. I love HUGE cactus plants you can't kill them through lack of water...I'm pretending I live in the desert.
