I sing, play guitar, keyboards and harmonica, and write the music and lyrics. I collaborated with Andrew Beasant on the music for 'Always' and 'When You Need Me'. Joshua Van Vorst contributed acoustic guitar to 'Godsend'. Michael Khalil recorded, mixed, mastered and played bass on 'All I Can Do'.

I explore every new feeling and every new experience by writing about it, so lyrically I'm influenced by the things that happen to me everyday. Musically, I guess I'm influenced by the music I heard growing up and the stuff I'm listening to all the time... so that would be artists like: Lene Marlin Tracy Johnson Spice Girls Missy Higgins Avril Lavigne the Cranberries Alanis Morrisette Relient K Schuyler Fisk the Corrs Kate Miller-Heidke and many others...

I've always been a big Spice Girls fan.
These days, acoustic pop music is my favourite. I love all the Kates - Kate Walsh, Kate Miller-Heidke, Kate Voegele, Kate Bush. But my name's not Kate, and I don't really sound like any of those artists. It took me a while to be ok with that. Now I realise that sounding like Laura Beasant is also kind of exciting :)
I hoard my experiences away inside myself, sitting with them, walking with them, turning them over in my mind until I find a way to put them to music. Then I fiddle with harmonies and guitar parts and try to make it sound pretty. I like pretty music.
Oh, and I still love the Spice Girls :)

Hi Laura, Long time no speak... Hope you're well I thought I'd stop in & give you an update on what's happening here for me since it's been soooo long (& I said I would) I've got a brand new single out called 'I Survived You' It's getting radio play nationally, my video's are being played on tv, I've been doing radio & newspaper interviews all over the country, I'm rehearsing my band at the moment in preparation for tv performances etc, I've got more music on iTunes (search under Lesyah)... & the album is nearly complete. yeah I got past the two random network 10 people in the first room and then they sent me to sing in front of the producer. caught me massively off guard cause I was halfway through filling out this form thing and then he's like 'just come in now' and I was like 'eh.. oh.. ah... yeah?'
It was baaad. I was gonna head back to try again, knowing that I wouldn't be as nervous, but I woke up dead sick. Heh...how about yours? And, there's always next year~ ;3
I got blue carded. Looks like I'll have to put some actual effort into my band and get famous without being on TV, haha. You should come to my gig at ultimo music week, june 16th, somewhere around campus I think, they haven't really told us much about it yet lol
About 3 weeks ago i got bit(and i don't mean in a playful way either)by a cat(Buster).He was ok at first but when it came time to return him to his cage...oh boy(if you don't recall i volonteer at the Moncton SPCA).
Usually if this happens the animal is put into quarantine for 10 days then put to sleep after wards.For some animals just being in a cage can REALLY get to them.Poor things:(
That's nothing besides Buster they had to put down 2 other cats(Krissy and Gabriel,their pics are in theCats i've spent...album)to sleep because they also bit people,and i spent time with these cats!

I went to the hospital,was given some antibiotics and a tetanus shot,the bite is a little below my wrist and it's healing quite nicely.
I hope you had a *safer* time lately than i did hehe.Seriously i'm ok now,it's still nerve wrecking because you never know how the cats are going to react but this week i've spent time with some nice kitties:)
