Laura took to the stage at an early age – she invited her parents to their basement for "shows" which consisted of her performing songs of the Beach Boys and Elvis. Laura’s passion for music continued through high school and college. It was during this time when family friend Ted Neeley, star of the Broadway hit “Jesus Christ Superstar”, came to hear her senior recital that Laura received an invitation to perform in the ensemble cast of a recording of “Rasputin”, a Broadway-bound musical by Michael Rapp. She appeared on the CD performing alto, soprano and tenor parts alongside such renowned artists as Amanda McBroom, John Hurt and Neeley. The experience further solidified Laura’s passion for music and, following college graduation from Philadelphia’s University of the Arts, she packed up her car and headed for Nashville.
Laura fell in love with Nashville and immediately enrolled in music classes at Belmont College while interning at Sony Tree Publishing and later DreamWorks Publishing. She also continued her involvement with the Make-A-Wish Foundation, a cause she’d become familiar with as a youngster when her brother suffered a severe brain aneurism and was hospitalized in a coma for six months. The experience exposed Laura to Make-A-Wish and various celebrities who came to see young kids in the hospital. She continues to work with the organization in Nashville and in summer of 2008 was named to the Board of Directors for the Mid-Atlantic chapter of Make-A-Wish. Her first single was a song she co-wrote and aptly titled, “Make A Wish”. It spent 8 consecutive weeks on Billboard Music’s top 10 most downloaded songs.
Laura’s career is soaring, literally. Her latest single, “Hometown Heroes”, was released in September 2008 and is the official song for the Air National Guard’s ad campaign. Her debut CD, “Trying To Be Me” (Equity Records), also was released in 2008. Laura toured late last year with Clint Black and has been performing at a variety of venues and events throughout this year.
