Anyone and anything that has something meaningful to put out there is inspiring. I'd like to think that I'm not influenced by anything as much as I am inspired and challenged to create more. Musically, I'm inspired by a ton of artists. Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, Ella, these are at my core. Tori Amos, Sarah McLachlan, Paula Cole, they all find their way in. Peter Gabriel, U2, Eddie Vedder, yeah, they're a part of me. Then there are my tremendously talented friends who you can find on myspace who inspire me every day: Chris Burke, Jennifer Morrison, Rob Giles, Kelly Buchanan, Dave Spak, Victoria Vox, and that's just a few. So I guess you could say I'm influenced by the world at large and the people within it.

Laura Clapp grew up in New England. She's brash, she's honest and she's happy to be here. Put these things together and you get an artist not afraid to tell it like is who thrives on love, excitement and a passion for life.
After moving to Nashville from Boston in 2001, Laura quickly befriended some of Music City's best and it wasn't long before she was singing for a living. As she sang for her supper, she learned the advantages of co-writing, listening and observing the music that surrounded her. This knowledge led to demo sessions, a career as product specialist for TC Electronic and most recently a gig as backing vocalist for the legendary Howard Jones.
Laura spends her days writing songs, playing with the coolest gear on Earth and traveling the world telling people about it. A recent move to Cleveland has opened more doors than ever and 2008 promises to be another exciting year. Check out the calendar page to see where she might be next!

Poem 162 of 230, walkaboutsverse.741.com: TEES TO TYNE: FIRST IMPRESSIONS - SUMMER 2001
Where traditions are not so rare; Sea, country and works scent the air; A multitude of monuments, Planted tubs and patterned pavements.
The longish pedestrian malls; The remnants of defensive walls; "Broken-roofed buildings" are a gauge Of the respect for heritage.
Wheat, rape and pines in the fields; Estuaries guarded by shields; Long sandy beaches and wide scenes; Romantic-ruin go-betweens.
Rivers in parts licked by trees, Or fringed by boat clubs, wharfs, gantries, And crossed by practical delights - Varied spans, forming pleasing sights.
Fine churches headed at Durham; Football kits ad infinitum; Kept castles - one for study; Masonry behind masonry.
And, with moulding-works out that way, It’s somewhere for a longer stay..?

Poem 23 of 230, walkaboutsverse.741.com: ABOVE EVEREST
When flying from Nepal to Thailand, I was given a "good-side" seat; And, as I looked out the plane window, The view I saw was really neat.
For breaking through a thick sheet of cloud Were the high Himalayan peaks; And, rising the highest of them all, Mount Everest - heaven bespeaks!
