What do you want to be when you grow up? Since Laura was a child she wanted to be a singer.
Not just anywhere, but in a small club where she could connect with an audience, and they could share an evening of laughter and friendship.
Originally a Musical Theatre performer, Laura knows her way into the soul of a song. She spent the 90’s touring around the world with various productions. Some of her favorite roles were the Witch in ’Into The Woods,’ The Narrator in ’Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,’ and as a member of the tribe in ’Hair.’ But the experience of singing in an intimate setting is what Laura loves more than anything else.
Come and enjoy an evening of Musical Theatre, Pop and the Great American Songbook. The night is relaxed, she’ll talk about her life, she’ll take requests...you’ll get to know each other. Think "The View" with music!
Regular gigs include: the East Bank Club, The Gentry on State, 3160 and Davenport’s. You can also catch her at city run events, part of their Play On, Cabaret series.
Always looking for new venues and new gigs, Laura hopes her music will touch you and that fate leads her toward new opportunities.
Baby boy is due in late November. We are very excited about it. I just love that your cabaret career is booming, Laura. Singing is absolutely what you should be doing. xoxo - Tracy
It was fabulous to see you too Laura! The show went beautifully. It was wild to be singing Rita Hayworth film songs to her daughter and a crowd of very upscale society folk. I love Chicago and can't wait to get back and sing some more! You take care and keep me in the loop! Hugs, Vincent
I'm desperately trying to shuffle some things to be able to make it to Maxim's tonight, but not sure if I'm going to be able to! I'm bummed! But, if I can't please know how very much I wanted to be there... and also that I'm totally there for you in heart and spirit! I'm sure it will be a beautiful show! Break a leg darlin'!
Laura, you're the best!!! Thank you for being so welcoming and supportive. I loved hearing your "Suddenly Seymour" last night. Such an awesome high belt!
You are such a doll! I try to watch the soprano thing at open mic, because I know not everyone likes it, but sometimes ya' just gotta! ;-) I'll tell you, Amish Acres really helped me beef up my lower register a lot and I'm so glad for that! It's opens up a whole new world of versatility! I'm still working on my belt, that's my weakest thing at the moment... I used to rehearse with Scott sometimes at the acres... I miss having that pianst on hand! Anyway, thank you so much for your input! I welcome it anytime!!!
Glad you like the hair! I was ready for a change and knew what I wanted, but didn't know if it would work on me. But I have a fabulous hairdresser who knows exactly what I want and makes it work! She used to be in TnT with me and I adore her.
So I had a dream that I went to see you and Rob Dorn in Sunday in the Park, you guys were awesome! I promptly awoke and watched you and Rob singing on Youtube, excellent!
We had a blast at the Gentry on Friday! You and Jeff were fantstic and now I have official heardand seen the ultimate performance of Meadow Lark, it was amazing, Vallea and I talked about it all the way home!
You're welcome, Laura--you're good and you're funny, too, which makes a big difference (of course, at Gentry they're not really interested in the "Great American Songbook" lecturers).
Hope to be able to see you soon (and glad that Missy finally made it)!
You so crazy! Thanks for the comment and hey, any time you go to paradise from now on, be sure to go to you first! lol, I'm excited to see you again perhaps one of these dates listed above, see that people, this lady is WORKIN' shoot, you know it!
