Goldhamer most frequently performs with banjo, guitar, voice and video projections along side a lovely group affectionately known as "the Silvernail": Macon Terry (upright bass), Matt Case (pedal steel), Griff Snyder (aka Gryph, piano), and Paul DeHaven (percussion).
Born and raised in Denver, Colorado, Laura Goldhamer (banjo, guitar and vocal) is now living back in her home town, booking arts events (CONCERTS, GALLERY OPENINGS, A FILM SERIES, ETC.) at Brooks Center Arts: Underground Tea House. it is located within a beautiful old historical church in Capitol Hill, called BROOKS CENTER FOR SPIRITUALITY or FIRST DIVINE SCIENCE CHURCH, at the corner of Williams and 14th St. (1400 Williams). The venue houses mostly small Do-It-Yourself-(DIY)-sized shows in the basement space, but on occasion there will be larger concerts in the sanctuary space (with 600 seats and a balcony). PLEASE SEND A MESSAGE ALONG IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN BOOKING A SHOW AT BROOKS CENTER ARTS.
Graduated from Wesleyan University with a degree in music and religion, where she participated in various musical ensembles, including conglomerations of the talented Joaquin Cotler (keys), Owen Roberts (drums), Greg Donahue (bass), and Caley Monahon-Ward (fiddle) [as appears on the videos for "Born There" and "Little Baby"], as well as Cassye Dunkhase (cello) and Chris McDonald (computer knobs and levers) [as appears on the video for "Gently Now"], with George Blake (flute) [appearing on the video for "Float"], and with Ashraf Rijal (clap stomp composition on "No Ability").
Q: One might ask, why only one "M" in Goldhamer? Why not Laura Goldhammer?
A: At the risk of confusing my family with just any old Goldhammer family, my grandfather took one M away.
A2: A small elven man offered to turn straw into gold for me if I gave him my first born "M". I was desperate, needed the gold, BAD, couldn't guess his name and so that is how I came to be Laura Goldhamer.
one day i will close my eyes and it will be someone else opening their eyes, another day another time another place, and if that person remembers being me i hope the songs they write or love help them stay remember how life just begins one day, despite not being able to remember anything before this moment of opening their eyes, they believe whole-heartedly that they were born from that of a life of something true. their birthday is the day they opened their eyes
