I am Laura Groves and I am 20 years of age. I live in the Northern town of Shipley and write songs for various instruments, some of which I can play better than others, and like to watch the interesting folk go by and write about people and places that are close to me.
My live gigs are played with guitar and piano, sometimes with the addition of a variable number of string players. I have been lucky enough to appear with fantastic people such as Guillemots, Final Fantasy, Elvis Perkins, Jack Penate, Jeffrey Lewis, Tilly and the Wall, James Yorkston and Jeremy Warmsley.
If you would like to get your hands on some of my recordings, projects include a contribution to the "50minutes" charity compilation alongside artists such as Daniel Johnston, Ladyfuzz and Emmy the Great. It's out on Excercise1 Records and is very lovely indeed. "Coast" makes an appearance on the a compilation from Dance to the Radio Records "Something I Learned Today".
Laura please return to Leeds in the next say two months during the week so I may be able to come to your lovely show, I would quite like to hear your lovely voice again x x

Currently Sweden's hottest export, THOSE DANCING DAYS combine "Sweet as apple-pie pop" with a devilishly sassy Northern Soul and it's this unique combination that has the got the whole of the UK falling over itself and for good reason too!
The subtle dynamics in their songwriting of JOHN and JEHN and the balance between chaos and beauty and the mastery of heartbreaking melodies Expect beautifully skewed hymns in the key of Serge Gainsbourg. http://www. myspace. com/johnjehn
Wakefield's THE RESEARCH are makers of fun, but also write songs that are like punches in the stomach that knock the wind out of you but afterwards you agree that you feel much better for it. www. myspace. com/theresearch
