Bio
Laura "Flute Link" Intravia is a combination of performer, composer and arranger. A classically trained musician, she is a graduate of Ithaca College with degrees in Composition and Vocal Performance. A skilled composer for many genres, her strengths lie in vocal/choral writing, for which she is frequently commissioned; she received the 2007 Jack Downey Vocal Composition Prize and placed second in the 2008 NYTS Composition Competition. She has studied composition under Dana Wilson, Sally Lamb, Jennifer Higdon and William Bolcom. As a vocalist, Laura is experienced in both recital and operatic music. Opera roles include La Princesse in L'Enfant et les Sortileges and Una Conversa in Suor Angelica. While in school, Laura developed a focus and love for contemporary art-song, performing in the master classes of Richard Hundley, Arlene Shrut, Paul Sperry and Lindsay Christiansen. In addition to concert performances, Laura has sung professionally at several Long Island churches since 2006, in high demand as a cantor, pianist and organist. Although she did not study formally at college, the flute has always been one of Laura's greatest musical passions. Nine months after her famed "Flute Link" act at the Otakon 2008 Masquerade, Tommy Tallarico discovered the video of her skit on Youtube and invited her to perform with Video Games Live in the summer of 2009. Laura has been performing with VGL ever since as "Flute Link," as well as lending her voice and flute to many segments in a variety of genres, from classical to jazz to crossover. She appeared as a solo flutist on the Video Games Live: Level 2 CD/DVD/Bluray in 2010. She made her video game soundtrack debut in 2011 as a featured flutist in Otomedius Excellent, performing on a track composed by Michiru Yamane. Laura is also active in the NYC musical theater community, serving as keyboardist, rehearsal accompanist, musical director and vocal coach. She served as Associate Music Director of the new musical "Peter & I" through The Araca Project in 2011, and arranged instrumental music for Broadhollow Theater's recent 2012 production of "Nine." Between performances, Laura is also a dedicated teacher. Offering private lessons in flute, voice and composition, she has taught students both at home on Long Island and all over the world, via Skype. Laura also maintains a blog where she discusses the application of music theory in video game music. Her mission is to educate musicians and non-musicians alike by using examples of popular, recognizable video game music to illuminate composition details and ideas, and how they make the pieces work. -

Hi Laura!
thank you for accepting my friend request. I am truly honored. your music is wonderful. and you were really cool at the beacon on the 25th. i liked all your performances but your joke with Navi playing the flute was realy good. are you continuing your tour with VG live. or staying in NY?
i recently saw you at video games live and your link bit was amazing. aside from it being humorous, it also showed off some amazing skills on the flute. Be well.
