I come from a fab musical background. From an early age, music was a huge part of my upbringing. Our house was filled with it. There was always guitars and a piano to plonk away on and the hi-fi was preferred to TV. My earliest influences were the Soulsters from Motown, Atlantic and Stax labels, laced with The Beatles, Elvis Costello, Oscar Peterson, Miles Davies, Nina Simone, Prefab Sprout, Hall and Oates, Elton John, Peter Gabriel, Etta James, Mozart and Beethoven. In my teens I discovered my own musical 'thing' which probably had more to do with hormones than musical appreciation...but unashamedly still love New Kids On The Block, Take That, EYC, Benz and Boyzone. I kinda knew I was becoming obsessed when I was signing my home work 'Laura Lynch'. He will never know my madness... Then some great 'girly bands' were my faves.. but for music rather than hormones... like Eternal - who me and my mates would copy and sing the harmonies -actually looking back, that was a great education. Course, I moved on to the greatest era of original sound and songs since the 60's namely....The Chillies, Incubus, Creed (sorry, I love em), Third Eye Blind, Straw (should have been huge), Deftones, Bluetones, The Grunties (great punk band), Dodgy, Ash, Bloodhound Gang, etc....... My three brothers are musicians - Graham (bass), Nobby (drums) and Paddy (guitar) and we managed to record 6 original songs without killing each other! My dream is that we will all play and record some new material in the next year - they are such talented musicians - and great fun as well as being argumentative!
I have always loved R&B and Soul and will forever be hugely influenced by the greats of yesterday and today - I would like to contribute my own little bit too.
Influences
Stevie Wonder, Prince, Lynden David Hall, Lucy Pearl, Angie stone, Brandy, Aaliya, Angie Stone, Jill Scott, Hill street Soul, Chillies, jack johnson, Plum Butterworth (the Grunties), Marvin..oooh.. Eryka Bhadu, Maxwell..Keisha Cole, Sublime, touch of Ash, The Beatles and of course the entire back catalogue of Motown, Atlantic and Stax labels' artistes.... special shout out to GC Cameron and the Temptations.. oh and Four Tops and the Supremes...
rs ‘Liquid Soul’ a collection of music (Neo-Soul, Dance, Jazz & Funk) that embraces, compliments and fulfills joyful renditions of what real music does to the soul. A collaboration of amazing worldwide independent talent. Hailing from France, New York, Detroit, Florida, United Kingdom, Belgium, Japan and in between. Artists such as Daisey lead singer of the Florida band Heavenly Noise who is now embarking on a solo career emphasizing her soulful sounds and hard beats produced by Batsauce. Chris Chandler who is currently promoting his debut album ‘LifeStylez Vol. 1’, which includes collaboration with Psycho les of the Beatnuts. Mr. Chandler’s vocals bring you emotions, which are nothing less than enticing. From Japan we bring you Missing Soul. This man’s production and engineering combined is so precise I dare you to say a damn negative about his tracks, house music at it’s best. The lovely Misscamille from Belgium, she understands what neo-soul is and it is beautifully projected in her music. The beautiful Ms. Laura Jackson, London born, Malta based. With inherited musical ambition and talent from her family of musicians she has Diva written all over her. This is just a portion of the music that will shine on this compilation, sustaining the status that Orama makes and brings you ‘Music That Moves’ Out now @ iTunes, Rhapsody, Emusic, Napster and available soon @ Beatsource. For me, it's all about music. Music is its own reward. I am so happy and blessed to be able to put down tracks and have fun and fulfillment. I love listening to great music that moves the spirit or the ass. We all know it when we hear it. It is almost undefinable. I love to hear it in new and old material from well known artistes and not so well known. My desire is to be able to produce music that refreshes the soul and provide some reflection of human experience that resonates. That's what I delight in when I hear something great. Thank goodness there is plenty of it despite the music industry 'formulas' for hits... I love writing lyrics, melodies and putting down harmonies. I hope to God that I can be true to all that I love in music.
