Born in the Midlands town of Rugby, Laura Jane Kauffman has been singing all her life. On her 14th birthday she picked up an old guitar and proceeded to compose her first song. Since then she has built up an impressive catalogue of original material.
In September 2003 Laura relocated to Houston, Texas. In between travels to Louisiana, Florida and New York City, she appeared at several Houston music venues including McGonigel's Mucky Duck, the Cosmos Club and J P's Hops House. She was a featured artist on the KPFT HAAM radio show, opened for local bands at Ovations nightclub in Rice Village and was delighted to guest at the legendary Anderson Fair.
Although now based in Brighton, UK, Laura Jane Kauffman's music reflects influences from both sides of the Atlantic. She has two independently recorded CD's 'Late Night Conversation (2003)' and 'Late Night Conversation (Part II)' (2004) and also a Texas/UK complilation avaliable this summer which offers an eclectic mix of highly personal yet universal thoughts and emotions, showcasing her unique songwriting talent and honest delivery.
Since her arrival on the Brighton music scene, Laura Jane Kauffman has quickly established a solid reputation as a popular and polished performer at local venues such as the Western Front, the Cella, the Providence, the Ranalagh, Hanbury and Joogleberry Playhouse where she has made two appearances to date as part of the Brighton Festival Fringe. In October 2006 she was a finalist in the Sussex-based Songfactor competition.
Catch Laura Jane on Monday 8th September at the Prince Albert, Brighton when she opens for old Texan friend and fast-rising Americana star, Hayes Carll. Look out for details of her forthcoming residency as the RedRoaster Coffee House when she will be performing songs from her new CDs 'Houston to Brighton and 'If you knew me better'.
Just wanted to drop in and thank you for your part in last night's festivities. Yours was an excellent performance, honestly - a lot of people were impressed, I know (and not just your folks!). Nice one :-)

Boom. Like that new song. The production is awesome, does it justice. It's nice to hear a bit of depth in there. Like it loads. My studio is set up again now...and improved...just gotta install some software and I'm away if you wanna record anything.
Ok so after a two week struggle my hard drive sadly passed away earlier this week with it's technicians by it's side. This also means that all my Itunes library, £700 worth of Photoshop and my music studio died with it along with everything Ive ever recorded on the music studio. I will be getting a new studio programme but the point here being DON'T HOLD YOUR BREATH for it. Might see if I can get logic off of Marcus. I will deffo let you know when I'm all set up again. In the meantime here is a video of a sleepy kitten to make up for it.
