Laura is a Nashville recording artist described as an anointed singer, songwriter, worship leader, musician and speaker. Laura had a life-changing encounter with the Lord through worship her last year in high school before entering The University of Pennsylvania where her songwriting and worship leading gift flourished. There Laura sang for Penn's critically acclaimed Christian a capella group, "Full Measure" and was soloist on their album, "Not for Nothing" and ministered extensively on campus. She was worship leader for Penn's Campus Crusade for Christ. Among many awards, Laura was honored as "Montgomery County's Outstanding Young Woman" for Academics, Leadership, Citizenship and Talent. Laura was recently featured in an article for the Ivy League Christian Observer Publication following her return to Penn during her "Wake Me Up" Tour.
Ever since her encounter with the Lord, Laura has had a heart to bring the beauty of God’s love to a broken world, see people’s hearts set on fire through the touch and presence of God and to glorify Him in all things. Her concerts with her angelic voice, and heart felt, thought provoking, worshipful lyrics have been described by a pastor as leading you into the throne room of God. Her songs reflect her passionate love for the Lord. They capture her own personal 'journey' with Him in her quest for Faith, Hope, Love and Purpose and truly touch hearts for Christ.
Laura is currently on the “Wake Me Up” Tour- An Awakening for the Heart – Concert and Worship - throughout the country and has performed in three Gospel Music Association Week Showcases in Nashville. She desires her music to awaken the heart of the listener to the heart of God for them.
Since its inception in 2001, Laura has been the Worship Leader, Co-Emcee for Jesus Fest, a branch of Worldwide Evangelistic Ministries. It is a quarterly festival that first began with 50 youth and grew to uniting 1000+ youth, young adults and all ages in worship and evangelism from 150 churches throughout the NE. Thousands of youth have given their lives to Christ and made recommitments to Him through this ministry.
Originally from Pennsylvania, Laura has resided in Nashville since 2006. She completed her 2006 debut Christian CD of all original songs, “Wake Me Up” with Grammy nominated producer Anthony Newett in PA and completed an EP, “Wildflowers” in 2007 of original songs with Grammy award winning producer John Carter Cash, son of Johnny and June Carter Cash at the Cash Cabin Studios, TN.
Laura is honored and excited to be working on her third CD project with 6 time Dove Award winning producer Don Koch for release early 2010 with major radio promotion. Don Koch has produced records for every major Christian Record Label with total sales in excess of 8 million records. He has won Dove Awards for Inspirational Record of the Year, two years in a row. He has won the Dove Award for song of the year and has won Inspirational Song of the Year three times. He also has 38 number one songs in the CCM radio market to his credit. The artists Don has worked with include some of the biggest names in Christian music. Bob Carlisle, Larnelle Harris, Angelo & Veronica, Fred Hammond, Phillips Craig and Dean, 4-Him, Cindy Morgan, Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir, Dallas Holm, Charles Billingsley, Allen Asbury, Greg Long and many others. Don recently produced The Sonflowerz. As a songwriter his songs have been recorded by artists such as Brian Littrel (Backstreet Boys), Donnie Osmond, Michael Crawford, Michael English, Avalon, Phillips Craig and Dean, Jump 5, Craig Morgan, Charles Billingsley, Allen Asbury, Greg Long and many others.
Laura feels truly blessed to be working with such an experienced and gifted producer and songwriter such as Don on her new album! Laura is co-writing with Don and other gifted songwriters such as Brian White, Chad Cates and Carl Cartee in Nashville. She also is blessed to have Jeff Adams from 220 Management as consultant and part of her team. Jeff is Manager for Group 1 Crew, Chris and Conrad, Chris Taylor and other great artists.
Laura has launched her own record label, Running Spirit Records through Indie Extreme. Indie Extreme has announced its newest strategic partner in Universal Music Christian Group (UMCG) a division of Fontana Distribution/UMGD. This partnership is allowing Indie Extreme’s artists to have both physical and digital distribution through the entertainment industry’s most admired partner. Some of Laura’s songs from her earlier projects have placed 4th, 6th, 12th, 15th, 23rd and 24th out of approximately 500 entrees on fan-voted www.ourstage.com.
How did it all begin? Laura has been singing in church and writing songs since the age of 10 when this gift surfaced as she wrote her first Christian song for her neighbor Rose who was dying of breast cancer. All were amazed at how God used this song to touch and strengthen Rose deeply. Laura has now written close to 100 songs to date, has studied voice with Susan Dash since age 14, and plays guitar, piano, flute and violin. She placed 2nd among 50 schools and 1000 participants in Pennsylvania Music Educators Assoc. district and regional vocal competition. Since she was a child, Laura dreamed of singing for a Disney movie. She has been chosen to be the singer/songwriter for Melaoartis, Monarcha Characters of the Rainforest that were hosts of the Denver International Film Festival along with Dustin Hoffman. Laura loves ministering to all ages in all church events and outreaches. She is also passionate about pre-teen, teen girls, women’s, youth and young adult ministry. It is a fun "night out" with a mission of love, hope and healing to all girls and women who struggle with self-worth, self image, hurt, rejections, fears, purpose and identity. It will also minister to those that are not struggling but just need an encouraging word to "Lift Up U". There will be teaching about fulfilling their destiny and purpose and who they really are in Christ and the power of Christ in them. There will be powerful testimonies!
Laura will share through her music, message from God’s Word and testimony that the Lord is the ‘lifter’ of our heads and sees us as His beloved, His Sacred Bride, beautiful and complete in His eyes. The Scripture theme is from Leviticus 26:13- "I am the Lord your God who brought you out of Egypt ....I broke the bars of your yoke and enabled you to walk with your heads held high".
Laura, and whenever possible, Debbie Tellis, Founder of Pure Love Works, www.pureloveworks.com will share their passion for purity and why it is God's purpose of love to protect our hearts - that purity can be regained at any time. Debbie will also introduce her follow-up course and support group for those interested in maintaining and regaining their purity.
Members of Laura's team have begun "SAVE THE KIDS FOUNDATION", a non-profit branch of Worldwide Evangelistic Ministries, www.worldevangmin.org to raise support as sponsors of LifeThirst Conferences- P2 Tour and "Lift Up U". It will also promote anti-gang, drugs and alcohol, and pro-purity messages and youth evangelism. Gang problems are epidemic even in suburban schools. But God is opening doors in public school assemblies and after school programs!
