Can everyone take a special moment to lift their prayers to the Lord for 11yr. old Jessica. She lives here in Mesa, Az. She was in a life changing accident last week that has left her in a wheelchair. Anything is possible through God. Please in your own words ask God to heal her. The power in our prayers is our faith. Her family will be occurring many expenses from this. If you would like to be a xmas angel to Jessica a bank account has been set up through Washington Mutual by her school. The account number is 4421379086 under her parents name Guy and Carolyn L.
Thank you all so much for your continued support of praying for others:) God Bless YOU:)

Will everybody please take a moment to say a prayer for a very sweet Christian woman named Myra from West Virgina. She has had diabetes her whole life which has caused almost total blindness and her kidney's are in trouble.

Please call upon the Lord to heal her and comfort her suffering. Her husband Ozzie and her need your prayers. Please lift your voice to the Lord and ask him to heal her TODAY!!!

It say's in the bible if two or more people gather and pray towards the same thing it shall be done. That's not the exact quote but the same meaning:) Please Pray for Myra right now when you read this.
Thank you all and God Bless U

Interests

  • General

I have a wide array of interests: reading fiction and non-fiction; playing racquetball; watching baseball; exploring swap meets and yard sales; sewing, crafting, and creating; watching and critiquing almost any kind of movie; working with my trainer 3x per week; feeling a brisk breeze on my skin at dusk; driving on the 51 at midnight with U2 at full volume; drinking in the moon.

    Goddess Gear &
    Phoenix Obama Girl.
  • Music

I tend to be an Anglophile... My music taste is rather eclectic, but there are many UK singers/groups in the mix.

U2 / Sting / The Cure / Cranberries / The Corrs / Replacements / REM / Annie Lennox / New Order / Pan Africa Orchestra / traditional Irish / Creed / The Calling / Natalie Merchant / Casting Crowns / Los Lobos / Blues Traveler / soundtracks from 80s movies
  • Movies

I tend to be a bit hyper-critical when it comes to watching and critiquing films. Would never want to ..be.. a critic, though, as I think that would surely take all the fun out of going to the movies and/or renting.

OK, finally was able to round out the Top 18 to a Top 20. Recent additions are Batman Begins as No. 19 and Brothers McMullen as No. 20.

Here is the list, in alpha order... As you can see, I tend to favor dramas and romantic comedies.

    1. About A Boy

    2. American Beauty

    3. Batman Begins

    4. Bend It Like Beckham

    5. Billy Elliot

    6. Bridget Jones’s Diary

    7. Brothers McMullen

    8. Casablanca

    9. The Full Monty

    10. Good Will Hunting

    11. High Fidelity

    12. Kissing Jessica Stein

    13. Lone Star

    14. A Love Story for Bobby Long

    15. Notting Hill

    16. Princess Bride

    17. Say Anything

    18. Shawshank Redemption

    19. The Sound of Music

    20. Waking Ned Devine
  • Television

I moved back in August — and undertook the interesting new experience of living without a TV. While I have given myself permission to go back to being a TV owner/watcher anytime I choose, for the time being, I am not experiencing any major withdrawal symptoms, so I think I will keep the experiment running for at least another little while.

Living without a TV is probably not as difficult for me as it would be for others because I have never really been a HUGE watcher. I do have some shows that I miss, though! Letterman, probably being the primary one among them. Also the new Lifetime Sunday night lineup. If I give in to get a TV machine, as Rachel Maddow calls it, it would be to see the outcome of these amazing presidential races. Was not TV free forever, or course. Past favorites have included:

State of Mind / Army Wives / Six Feet Under / Project Runway Who knew? / ABC Family reruns of Everwood & Gilmore Girls

I have been known to watch my share of the Law and Order franchise — although I'm not sure they could mine for much more in the way of new topics...

My all-time favorite show is the late, great SportsNight. It lasted only 2 seasons — but in my opinion, it was the best thing that ever ran on network television... West Wing was a close second.

The single best onscreen kiss of ALL time was at the end of the 2006 season finale of Medium. Toe-curling fabulous...
  • Books

Good God — where to even begin...

    FICTION

The early works of David Baldacci (The Winner and The Simple Truth) and Sue Miller (The Good Mother). It feels as though once a writer becomes reasonably prolific, the publishing schedule matters more than the story or thorough editing — I ..hate.. that.

Love both books I've read by Alexandra Ripley (Scarlet and A Love Divine...what amazing research!! [Side note: I've never read GWTW.] Ditto most of Nelson Demille's older stuff, like Cathedral.

I adore JK Rowling's personal story of perseverence and creativity, even if I'm not a huge HP fan, per se.

Classics I found memorable include The Grapes of Wrath, The Stranger, The Scarlet Letter (of course, I didn't get it until I was out of college and had read it three times), The Little Prince, Harold and the Purple Crayon, and the Chronicles of Narnia.

    NONFICTION

    In no particular order...

Writing to Change the World, by Mary Pipher

Secrets of Attraction, by Sandra Anne Taylor

Secrets of the Millionaire Mind, by T. Harv Eker

    Promiscuities, by Naomi Wolf

The Vagina Monologues, by Eve Ensler

The Tipping Point and Blink, by Malcolm Gladwell

Guerilla Marketing for Consultants, by Jay Conrad Levinson and Michael W. McLaughlin

From Beginning to End: The Rituals of Our Lives, by Robert Fulghum

The Little Red Book of Selling, by Jeffrey Gitomer

    Reviving Ophelia, by Mary Pipher

  • Heroes

As far as I'm concerned, a hero is someone who dreams BIG — someone who has vast dreams and goals and is just crazy/committed/optimistic/thoughtful/creative enough to follow them, whether others come along or not. Some of my heroes are obvious and famous:

Einstein (I think probably more than all others)
    DaVinci
    Mother Theresa
    Rosa Parks
    Gandhi

Heroes in my personal circle include:

    My son's adoptive mother, Kathy...

My sister, Corina...hands-down the best mother I've ever known...

Her daughter, my immensely beautiful and gifted niece, Samantha...who has BIG talent and grand dreams, which I have no doubt will be fulfilled...

The most amazing man I have ever met...God truly blessed me when he dropped Todd Smith into my life...a brilliant financial educator...unbelievably perceptive, kind, compassionate, funny, wise, nonjudgmental...you have changed my world utterly, Todd, and I would go to the ends of the earth for you...

My personal trainer, Scott White...he is wonderfully optimistic...and dailiy inspires me to think BIG, dream BIG, do BIG...

The quietly awesome Joanne Tedesco...who wields an amazing and positive influence that I don't think even she sees or understands...

My fabulous friend, Jacie Carter...who laughs with me at all the wrong places, is unafraid to be larger than life, tells it like it is, and spins me around to point me in the right direction when I get confused...

My amazing friend, Rebecca Joy...the lady firefighter with an awe-inspiring universal campaign of Simple Awareness...

The grandest visionary I know, Annie Loyd...who, trusting me with her priceless project when she knew virtually nothing about me, has been nothing but encouraging and supportive at every step along this fantastic, amazing, thrilling, soul-changing journey...

My marvelously outspoken, politically knowledgeable friend, Tom Otstot...you're at the top of the short list of Republicans in my inner circle...thanks for your wisdom, guidance, support, kick in the ass when I need it...and thanks, most of all, for your delightful, snarky wit...I love laughing with you...

My gifted friend, Therese Skelly...who is stepping into her greatness and harnessing the power of a Shared Vision to empower all of us to think bigger, dream bigger, achieve bigger...

My knowledgeable friend, David Hepburn...his thoughtful ideas are spurring me to action daily...

My beautiful friend, Mitzi Lynton...who has, on more than one occasion, called me out to see the bigger picture, be the bigger person, or experience life on a grander scope...her passion, vision, and optimism will carry her like the four winds with her message of peace and love...

My gorgeous, talented, delightful friend, Paula Dawson...who has struggled much this past year, but who still radiates God's love like no one I know...keep dancing, writing, gardening, and being your own amazing self, my wonderful friend...

My visionary friend, Pam Gaber...she saw a need, and stepped in to meet it, speaking and acting on behalf of the littlest ones to teach them to learn to trust again...

My intuitive teacher and trusted guide, Vickie Champion...who planted the seeds to allow me to begin to dream BIG...

The always fabulous Linda Herold...who just gets it done, every time...

My outstanding friend, Eileen Proctor...her diplomacy and people skills are surpassed only by her unprecedented commitment to the care and well-being of animals (OK, dogs) everywhere...

My beautiful, unbelievably talented friend, Lisa Albinger...who is the most amazing artist I've even been privileged to know personally...her work is simulaneously stunning, colorful, inspiring, thought-provoking, and comforting...

My CL buddy, Ramsey Carpenter...who is diligently pursuing all of his dreams...I wish you the GRANDEST success!! Congratulations to you and Amber — I couldn't be happier for you if I tried...

There are a handful of famous women whom, while I don't exactly categorize them as heroes, I do greatly admire for the levels of influence they've achieved. My goal is to create influence on the same level, although not necessarily in the way they did it, nor in the arenas in which they achieved it. I want to model their strategies for getting where they are, because none of their success was by accident...

    They include:

    Madonna
    Oprah
    Martha Stewart
    Hillary Clinton

About me:

Mission
My mission — and by extension, the mission of every associate editor or other individual affiliated with my company, Write | Market | Design — is to empower people to recognize their own self-worth and enable them to share their knowledge and passions with the world, whether that’s through self-published books, eBooks, articles, or dynamic blogs and Web sites. My goal is to fuel as many people as possible to share their solution-oriented messages — and to dismantle the self-sabotaging belief that they have to be trained writers in order to communicate well. All they have to do is know (a) what their message is, (b) who their audience is, and (c) why they need to tell their story. The rest — the editing, book production, marketing, etc. — is the easy part. But no one else on earth can manufacture the passion and knowledge that they, alone, possess.

Professional
Self-employed as a freelance editor and marketing specialist, I make words easy for people — if someone has an idea for a writing project but doesn't know where/how to begin, or if they're having trouble with any part of their marketing copy, I can probably help — or have someone in my network who can...

I am a professional editor, writer, and speaker, with a BA in nonfiction writing from the University of Arizona. I have written several e-books, including "Words Made Easy," "eBooks Made Easy," "Handwriting Analysis Made Easy," and the exceptional workbook, 1,001 Real-Life Questions for Women. I've written two novels...which are percolating in the files on my computer hard drive. I am an accomplished and effective public speaker, with interest and expertise in the areas of creativity, brainstorming, visualization, e-books, business writing, handwriting analysis, and open adoption.

Personal
I am an intelligent, outgoing person who loves meeting new people. I am a practical optimist — no Pollyanna here — but I believe in and try always to live the Law of Attraction. I certainly see the good, but because I know we only get back what we send out, I own all the aspects of my life, even the pieces that aren't always seamless or easy. I am friendly, creative, laid back, down-to-earth, and basically low-maintenance. I am a Taurus — was born in Detroit but was moved to Arizona as an infant. Attended Xavier High School and after graduating from U of A, moved to the NYC area, where I lived for almost 8 years. In 1999, I returned to Phoenix, my childhood home, and have been building my business here since 2001.

I am a birthmother in an open adoption. My brilliant, beautiful son was 13 on February 24th. He lives with his adoptive family in Gillette, New Jersey. He's a fabulous hockey player and, like his birthfather, stunning in the fields of math, science, and computers. But he's got some of his birthmom's artistic sensibilities, too. We placed him through the Spence Chapin agency in 1995, and because of my adoption involvement, birthmothers have a very special place in my heart. I have, for the last two years, hosted a spoken word event called The Birthmother You Know, which brings together birthmoms of all ages, and at every stage of placement and reunion, to share their stories and remember their children. In the U.S., Birthmothers' Day is recognized on the Saturday before Mothers' Day.

I have two dogs, Moondanz and Spencer, and one cat, Gracie. Have always wanted to have an iquana as a pet, although I hear they can be somewhat challenging.

I am a questioning Catholic who has recently been introduced and much intrigued by Unity. When I do attend Mass, I go more for the music and the community than for the doctrine. At the core, I believe in an all-loving God who wants only the best for us. I believe in magic and the mystical and the metaphysical. I believe there is life on other planets. I believe that we cannot continue to grow unless we are constantly open to new ideas, thoughts, and possibilities.

Who I'd like to meet:

Like-Minded Thinkers
This election season has awakened me to ideas and ideals that had been stirring for a long time. It can be considered uncouth to mix business and politics, but part of my purpose in life is to be an agent of change...which includes beginning or furthering the conversation about what is happening in our country (and under our noses) and around the planet, regardless of the potential discomfort it may cause. Whether you agree with me or not, I'd love to create courageous conversations about all relevant topics, regardless of how your position compares to mine.

Prospects
My writing & editing specializations include Web copy, articles, media releases, PowerPoint presentations, reports, and creative business communications. I have specific interest and experience in marketing for small-business owners and entrpreneurs who want to step up, claim their expertise, garner visibility, and play a bigger game, as well as those in the holistic health/fitness/nutrition industry.

Referral Sources
If, in your own networking, you know of speakers, coaches, writers, infopreneurs who feel they are missing the boat because they don't yet have a book, I would love to talk with them! Web designers with clients who don't understand that they are responsible for writing their own content, or folks you hear bemoaning the fact that their Web copy just isn't communicating the way they want it to — send them to Words Made Easy! Small business owners and/or entrepreneurs who would like to capitalize on the outstanding exposure and SEO boost that comes from select article placement are among those we can help with their positioning.

Prospective Editors
We're ramping up our SEO and getting busy. Would love to talk with experienced editors from all walks of life, areas of the world (expertise in U.S. English required), and levels of experience.

Blog Readers
My blogs are on blogger.com right now. Will likely stay there for the next little while, at least...

Readers/Contributors for New Online Magazine
One Planet Magazine is a new online project that will change the world as we know it. Backed by a relatively new Phoenix-based organization known as The Fusion, the magazine's purpose is to effect global, progressive change, beginning at the grassroots level. One person at a time...from the smallest of things, like letting the car in front of you merge into your lane, holding the door for the guy or gal walking into the store behind you, smiling at a stranger, saying please and thank you...to the GRAND visions that will change the way we do relationships, art, energy, politics, education, social justice, and everything in between.

One Planet is a magazine for those individuals intent on changing the world. It is specifically aimed at the moderate 60-80 percent of the population who are looking for guidance in all 12 areas that constitute the whole of any community:

1. Arts & Culture
2. Communications & Media
3. Economics & Business
4. Environment & Infrastructure
5. Governance & Law
6. Health & Wellness
7. Learning & Education
8. Relationship & Empowerment
9. Religion & Spirituality
10. Science & Technology
11. Social Justice & Security
12. Sports & Recreation

We publish monthly, and each issue addresses all 12 segments, with one specific segment taking prominence and acting as a theme for that issue. At present, we are online only, but we have a goal of moving to bound, printed issues by Spring 2007.

One Planet Magazine is accepting submissions of poetry, photos, art, recipes, and articles that correspond to any of our 12 sections. We are particularly interested in pieces of a national/international nature that explore a problem and offer a ..solution... We are about inclusion, not exclusion. We will limit our political commentary and, while most of our participants/ contributors take a progressive political position, the magazine will make no attacks or swipes at anyone on either side of the political aisle, simply because of his/her politics. The articles can range in word length from 200 to 1,200 words and must be more objective/hard news with corresponding research than opinion-laced, first-person pieces. Visit our Web site to view current stories.

We also are looking for sponsors, advertisers, JV partners, and the like. If you have those kinds of connections, please reply to this message with a note to that effect.

If you can't/won't be a contributor, please pass this notice about our ventures on to those in your personal network. We also need readers, from all ends of the globe!

One Planet Magazine
We're all in it.

Be the change you want to see in the world.
— Gandhi
