About me: ‘showcasing exclusive artists in Hull whilst supporting and promoting local talent’
After working at the Manchester Apollo for three years I have returned home to my roots in Hull.
During my time at the Apollo I’ve had the pleasure of working with many of the big named artists including Paul Weller, Ian Brown, Mike Skinner and Hull’s very own Paul Heaton. After travelling between Hull & Manchester I’ve been overwhelmed by the uprising of the Hull music scene and the local talent making regional and national headlines.
Hull’s music uprising is well underway and the city has many well established music nights which almost guarantee a full a house. There is a multitude of venues catering for a spectrum of taste and Hull’s recapturing the reputation it deserves as a melting pot of music and top night out.
Since arriving home I’ve been talking to people and have got together with a few old friends. Between the three of us we have come up with an idea to showcase larger more well known artists from outside the area in Hull. We aim to support these larger acts with local talent and add our own unique events to the city’s music circuit. Laurel Grove Promotions has been formed, which takes its name from the street where we grow up in the city, to bring a new regular music event to Hull.
For our first gig we are bringing Kid Carpet from Bristol to the Adelphi on Tuesday 20th February. Support comes from local band THE HOLY ORDERS. Kid Carpet is an amazing live performer. Its best to describe him as a one man band with a twist. He plays indie-pop with the help of Fisher Price toys and Ferbies. Check out his site for music clips and more info. Due to unforseen circumstances THE HOLY ORDERS replace TONKI as the local support band.
This event is priced at just a Fiver with advance tickets obtainable through this site. Alternatively, entry will be payable on the door but, get there early to ensure entrance.
