With performances such as Port Arthur’s Janis Joplin Birthday Bash, opening for grammy winning funkster, Leon Russell and American Idol’s Kimberly Caldwell, performing on Houston and Atlanta festival stages for up to 200,000 attendees, Lake Charles’ prestigious Mardi Gras Krewe of Illusion Ball and securing the title of 2005 Lake Charles Rockoff Winner, Laurel could probably be best described as the show-stopping, “in your face”, soulful rocker this area has come to love. High energy shows, offering a variety of favorites as well as savvy originals, guarantee to get everyone moving, young and old. Covering songs from Tina Turner, Janis Joplin and the Doobie Brothers, to more contemporary artists like Melissa Etheridge, Maroon 5 and Gwen Stefani, this siren gives a commanding performance with a raspy power and sultry, sexy tones likened to female greats Stevie Nicks and Etta James. Emerging from a gospel and blues background combined with theatre and vocal training from Florida State University’s School of Music, Laurel found her niche in rock’n’roll. Over the last decade, she has been fortunate to season her show with a number of talented musicians including Danny Reid, bassist for internationally famed band, The New York Dolls, and guitarist, Kenny Sanders, who recorded and toured with nationally acclaimed producers such as Robert Margonleff (Stevie Wonder, Wilson Pickett, Devo, Robin Trower) and artists such as Della Reese. She currently tours with seasoned artists including guitarist, Jake Fontenot, bass player, Dean Holliday, and drummer, Amanda Sonnier. “Some people are born with a God-given talent.
