Bio:

As a songwriting musician, Lauren Agnelli explores many styles of American popular music – folk, country, adult pop, rock, jazz -- throughout her wide-ranging career, writing and co-writing hundreds of songs, recording dozens of cds. In 2010, Lauren writes and performs with the Small Town Concert Series that she co-founded with her husband, Matthew Male, in 2007. They plan and produce monthly shows in CT, some for profit, some as benefits. She also performs solo, with co-writer Dave Rave, and with Amalgamated Muck. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- She’s been part of CBGB’s punk popsters out of CBGB’s, Nervus Rex; a co-founder of Grammy-nominated Washington Squares; an acoustic folkrocker with the half-Canadian Agnelli & Rave with Dave "Rave" DesRoches. Lauren has recorded and played in New York City, all over the United States and Canada, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, and St. Petersburg, Russia (former Soviet Union). She also recorded with nuclear polka musical geniuses and two-time grammy winners Brave Combo on the torchy pop 1996 release, Kiss of Fire. In 2004 on her Love Always Follows Me cd release, Lauren Agnelli sang and wrote in a jazz vein for the “hopeful, not hopeless” romantic. In fact, her clear-eyed optimism and belief that the best is yet to come (if not here now!) remains a true Lauren trademark. In 2010, she is performing, recording, and completing a new collection of original songs in the Americana vein. Lauren Agnelli: vocals, guitar, electric bass, songs. Also sometimes joined by longtime musical partner Canadian/New Yorker Dave Rave (vocals, guitar, electric bass, songs). Also sometimes joined by Rodney Maxwell, for a true country flavor (lead guitar, vocals, songs, master gardener). Add Matthew Male, Brian WOlfe, and Rose Bengston (with Rodney & me) and you get fok/country/rock's AMALGAMATED MUCK. I also lead the SMALL TOWN CONCERT SERIES BIG HOUSE BAND (featuring Bill Calhoun on keyboards, Emily Lisker on baritone sax, Rodney Maxwell on guitar and vocals, and other special guest players too, like Chris Listorti). IN 2007, I co-founded the SMALL TOWN CONCERT SERIES in Chester, CT, with my husband Matthew Male. I have also has recorded and played with BRAVE COMBO (Carl Finch, Jeff Barnes, Danny O'Brien, Bubba Hernandez), THE DAVE RAVE CONSPIRACY (Dave Rave, Coyote Shivers, Gary Pig Gold, Billy Ficca), NERVUS REX (Shaun Brighton, Jon Gildersleeve, Dianne Athey), and THE WASHINGTON SQUARES (Tom Goodkind, Bruce Paskow, Billy Ficca).

All of the above, in some strange way. Depends on what genre! One writer said "Has a voice that an pull off Piaf," and I sometimes do there, too. Also, Lauren Agnelli's music has been compared to Julie London, and with Dave Rave (in AGNELLI & RAVE, a power duo in the late '90's, centered in NYC and CANADA) is likened to Ian & Sylvia, Richard & Mimi Farina, Sonny & Cher on acid. . .
