Being from a very musical family, singing, dancing and acting came as a necessity to her. Lauren now performs both in and around Melbourne town and internationally, and has been doing so for almost 10 years. She fronts an R ‘n’ B act, ‘Brown Sugar’, covering some of her favourite inspirations, and, more recently, has been embarking on a songwriting project, fronting the release of her upcoming debut EP, ‘The Harder The Fall’. Lauren began her career on the Melbourne corporate scene, performing with her father, Bob Valentine from the ripe ol’ age of 16. Throughout the last 10 years, she has performed on Channel 10’s, ‘Good Morning Australia’, Channel 7’s ‘The Denise Show’ and at the opening of the Commonwealth Games Athletes Village in 2006 to name a few. Lauren studied Drama, Theatre Studies and Acting for film and television at Monash University, Melbourne, and since then has been writing for the stage as a side project. Throughout this time, she has played a psychopathic killer in ‘The Madness of Esme and Shaz’ in 2003, a bold and inspired house maid in Anton Chekhov’s, ‘The Cheery Orchard’ in 2004 and a grieving mother, Mrs. Phagan, in Jason Robert Brown’s Musical Stage Show, ‘Parade’ in 2005. Her passion for performing streams from a rich array of influences, and a primarily musical upbringing of dingy pubs, cold recording studios and late-night muso parties. This is the part of the industry she loves the most. Her writing has a heavy influence from the soul/blues/R 'n' B genre. In terms of cover songs, performing tunes from Amy Winehouse, Sharon Jones, Cole Porter to Chaka Khan & The Rolling Stones are all part of her comprehensive set.
