I have the wonderful opportunity of singing and playing with a variety of musicians in the area. From duo projects to full band arrangements, on radio and in restaurants and bars, I play with the following people: Billy Howell, Mel Knapp, Robin Kingry, Jon Clark, Tragic Jackson, Will Fink, Damien Lamb, John Joiner, and JukeJoint Slim. I'm always open to performing with new people...I believe it's the best way to grow as a musician...if this fits you, hit me up!

Sounds Like
Just push play...or better yet, come hear me live! "But if you are a musician, an artist, and yours is a good art, everyone could shine because of your sound and because of your song. For this reason to have an artist as a friend is more than to have thousands of friends." Aristotle.
Move forward. Continuously hope. Pray wholeheartedly. Give of yourself. Have no fear. Keep going strong...especially when things get tough. Keep on keepin' on.
A special shout out to Billy Howell...my friend and lead guitar player, my mentor, sounding board, and producer.
Thanks to my best friend Robin Kingry for the late night talks, the reminiscing, the crazy ideas that turn into great times, letting me borrow awesome earrings; and most of all, thank you for singing with me everywhere we go.
Thanks to Rick Whaley for letting me borrow whatever piece of sound equipment I'm missing on any given day. lol.
Thanks to every musician who graces my stage (or cleared section of floor.)
And for all of the attention from the camera lens, a BIG thank you to Damien Lamb. (p.s. "wagon wheel" love it.)
And thanks to you all for your support! I love you. Keep on keepin' on.
Lauren Kay was born in Foley, AL and raised in Pensacola, FL. Merl Manning, grandfather, saw the beginnings of talent and bought Lauren her first guitar when she was 15 years old. He strung her right-handed guitar backwards to accommodate her playing the only way it felt natural. At 17, she landed a gig at a local hot spot playing in a bluegrass band called “Bubba and Them”, where she stayed known as “Bubbette” for 5 years. When her stint there ended, she nabbed a solo gig for two years which later turned into a duo with guitar legend Steve Guffie (Stevie G), keeping her bluegrass favorites under her belt and venturing into fine-tuning her original tunes. Lauren has also been a part of the groups Highway 99, Southwind & The Hurricanes, and The Jon Cook Project. She is currently working on recording her CD, and intermittently performing on radio and at different venues in the Florida panhandle area. An odd coincidence, No way! I suddenly noticed we have something else in common besides singing. I told you previously that I can write songs, (sort of), well, I also grew up in Florida. I'm from Hialeah, then Avon Park, then Oneco, close to Bradenton, back to Hialeah, and finally, Forrest City, just North of Orlando before moving to CA in 1972.
Dear Lauren Kay, I am by all worldly standards not even close to being in your talent level. (Or league as the fashionable would say) However, I am being called by God to go out to the world and sing gospel songs and patriotic songs during these very serious times. Only with God's blessings and boldness am I even able to write to you again. I'm writing right now to ask you to please choose a letter or personal logo type insignia to place on a sheep in my garden on Green Spot. God has introduced us, and after you sign up for a sheep I would like to ask you for something greater. I'm doing things in His time so 1st things 1st. Welcome to my garden dear sister. May God richly bless you in your career. Sincerely from a servant of Jesus Christ, Jeff Meisner
I just posted it - look at the pix in performance 2009 from last nighs show at Cobalt. I think each of us had a good pic taken by COOP. We kicked some ASS for sure. Wish you had been there singing with us so we would have sounded pretty. Love, Damien PS - heading to Nashville at 11 a.m.
