Lauren Lark
Singer/Songwriter
Her name is Lauren Lark and she is bringing the 1940s and 1950s into the 21th century. With her play on the seductive trumpet like scat sounds of Sarah Vaughn and the clear precise pitches of Ella Fitzgerald she has steered jazz and R&B into a new direction.
While attending the University of the Arts on full Scholarship, Lauren taught college level courses during the school year and at the Summer Arts Program and still managed to keep an extensive performance roster. She completed her BA in Music Performance at University of the Arts and received the coveted Best Jazz Vocalist Award. Lauren has been taught by and performed with accomplished jazz musicians J.D. Walter, Reggie Pindell and Gerald Veasly.
Lauren has soloed with the National Grammy Choir in Los Angeles, performing with such greats as Smooth Jazz vocalist Nneena Freelon and saxophonist Dave Koz. She also soloed at the 2001 Grammy awards Nominee Party. She made history as the first and only vocalist to perform with the Regional Grammy Band. Lauren was asked to ring in 2005 as the premier soloist with the Trenton Symphony Orchestra and Big Band at the Patriots Theater at the War Memorial. Lauren has been a featured soloist for the Philly Pops as well as The Voices of the Pops. Lauren performs at countless events like The Cape May Jazz Festival, Welcome America Parade and the Philadelphia Film Festival.
Even though her native roots are planted firmly in the city of Philadelphia she is making a name for herself all over the world. Lauren has just returned from Japan, touring with the chart topping musical hip-hop artist Steph Pockets. She performed in Tokyo, Fukuoka, Nagasaki, and The Blue Note in Nagoya and Osaka.
Lauren continues to perform in the tri-state area with the Hoppin John Orchestra and with her co-writer and bandleader Randy Kapralick and The Lauren Lark Big Band.
