Blessed with a magnificent voice and an extensive repertoire of finely tuned jazz standards Lauren Lucille delivered three superb sets of polished material backed by veteran guitarist Toby Wren.
Laurens arrangements of “I’m Old Fashioned”, “Darn That Dream” “Bye Bye Blackbird” and “If I Only Had A Brain” were exceptional for one so young.
She thoughtfully captured the meaning of every song placing unique nuance on old favouites “God Bless the Child” and “Summertime” and swung hard through “Joy Spring” and “My Romance”.
Her agile scatting on “I Love Being Here With You” combined with awesome soloing by Toby was the icing on the cake!
Lauren Lucille has all the prerequisites for making it in the jazz world. If you have an opportunity to hear her live, you'll do yourself a favour. - Lyn Irwin

Music is the Breath of Living for Lauren Lucille . . .
Her being is established in performance and expression thru the medium . . .
From the ardour of a songsmith, to the realisation before an audience, Lauren exposes her soul, resplendent in emotion and conviction.
Her life has been music - literally since her very first breath.
Lauren was born into one of the strongest jazz families in Australia, daughter of Sharny Russell and niece of Steve Russell and Helen Russell, she has been surrounded by music from an early age. Lauren is one of four like-talented siblings. Lauren’s first composition, Esperada, for Flute and Guitar, a Spanish flavoured ditty, was published when she just 11 years old and she has continued to write music in a variety of styles.
Lauren’s essence is manifest on stage, and flows warm - like honey.
Matured thru life’s adversity and experience, and tinged with rhetoric, Lauren's songwriting belies her shadow, as her career has carried her through performances in Sydney, Milan, London, and now back home once again in Brisbane.
"true to artistic rigeur . . . incomparable. . . Urban Cool - with a touch of Soul"
Lauren Lucille is a young, up and coming jazz singer/composer from Brisbane, with performances behind her such as the Brisbane Jazz Club, Gold Coast Arts Centre, Broadbeach Jazz Festival and many more. Influences include Tierney Sutton and Kurt Elling.
Lauren has been performing with Toby Wren since February 2008, and finally - (after being asked at every single gig if she has a CD to sell and the answer being no) - Toby and Lauren got together to record an EP. The 6 track EP is called Orange Blossoms, which features Kurt Elling's and Curtis Lundy's ''Orange Blossoms in Summertime'' which has been played on multiple radio stations around Queensland and Victoria (so far).
LAUREN WAS A FINALIST IN THE VALLEY JAZZ FESTIVAL VOCAL AWARDS 2009.
