Lauren spent twenty years playing classical violin, but her heart really needed something to love, and sitting in orchestra and learning violin concertos wasn't where she needed to be. She went in search for music that would make her smile. When she heard Brittany Haas and Bruce Molsky play in a stairwell at the first national ASTA convention, she knew that's where it's at. A couple years later, at another ASTA convention, Lauren met Darol Anger, and was so inspired that she decided to drop everything and become a fiddler. She's been traveling to fiddle camps and festivals and is blissful because she's finally happy making music.

Lauren lives in Maine and maintains a very active enormous private studio of excellent violinists, violists and fiddlers, ranging from five to fifty-seven years old. She loves teaching tremendously and devotes most of her energy to her students. They travel as a big gaggle of fiddlers to concerts and orchestra festivals and are a force to reckon with, because their teacher makes sure every event is a blast.

When she's not teaching or practicing, Lauren also volunteers as the ASTA Maine president, and represents violinmaker Jonathan Cooper. In the little spare time that she has, Lauren likes to travel with a good book; preferably Jane Austen or a collection of Kenneth Rexroth poems.
