Born on the South-West Atlantic coast of France from a French father and Italian mother, she started her musical journey at age six and for ten years she was trained in classical piano, voice and choir.
At 20, Laure settled in Montreal continuing her journey... In Montreal she joined various bands (A Dream I Had, Black Nag, the People's Gospel Choir of Montreal), and this period enabled her to gain more stage experience. In 1998 she decided to pursue a solo career and began composing her own songs. With the financial support from the Canada Council For The Arts and the Conseil des Arts et des Lettres du Québec, Laure composed her own repertoire and gave her first series of performances as a singer songwriter in several “Maisons de la Culture” (cultural centres) and at the "Coup de Coeur francophone" in Montreal.
For her debue relase “L’Altr’Alba”, Laure composed songs in Italian, English and French. In this series of songs she wrote stories that thematically describe when the full moon, nature and old souls meet. Her music is a powerful meditative journey that fuses Folk, Flamenco rhythms, Celtic melodies and African percussion, creating its own special multi-ethnic sound and "métissage".
Accompanied by a group of outstanding musicians, she recorded and co-produced “L’Altr’Alba” with producer Erik West-Millette who is known for his productions with Marie-Jo Thério; Bïa; Richard Séguin.
Laure was awarded grants from the Canada Council for the Arts and the "Fondation du Maire de Montréal" to produce this project.
L'Altr'Alba is available on iTUNES and CdBABY and in MONTREAL at CAFFÈ IN GAMBA, 5263 PARK AVENUE.
“... Suddenly, a voice rises from the speakers: a warm Celtic influenced voice in Italian, arrangements with a rare finesse!"
Marie-Christine Blais - La Presse.
"… Primarily inspired by Italian, and moving in and out of English and French, she has given us an album of depth, vitality and personality. Folk sounding guitar, resonating piano, exotic percussions and a warm, deep, low, slightly husky voice. She is naturally able to create an etherial atmosphere, intimate or intense. At times her music is reminiscent of Celtic melancholy, world and folk, enriched by her joint arrangements with Erik West-Millette”.
Yves Bernard - Le Devoir (vitrine du disque).
In vendita on line su iTUNES e CdBABY
e a MONTRÉAL al CAFFÈ IN GAMBA, 5263 AVENUE DU PARC.
Al sesto piano del Belvedere e mi aiuti a chiedere in francese une boutteille de bier...si dice così?..anzi facciamo "Une boutteille de vin rouge pour l'amie et pour la victoire de notres amis...va be'...in italiano è "Un brindisi in onore degli amici"...me le daranno le ferie? Boh!
