About me:
Not quite sure how this happened, but I am the author of WINTERGIRLS, CHAINS, TWISTED, SPEAK, CATALYST, PROM, and FEVER 1793. I also write picture books for little kids, who better not be on myspace. My newest for the little ones is THE HAIR OF ZOE FLEEFENBACHER GOES TO SCHOOL.

My next book, FORGE, comes out in late 2010.

I get bored easily. I live out in the country near Lake Ontario, north of Syracuse, NY. I love winter and hate being hot. I have a quick temper and fought it my whole life. I have amazing dreams.

I'll post here, but you'll find lots more on my LiveJournal.

Check my website, too.

NEWSFLASH!!!! I will not do your homework. High school was bad enough the first time around, thanks. Don't ask me to explain the symbolism in any of my books. I don't know either. I was not an English major.

I still don't know what a "theme" is in literature. I just want to tell good stories.

Words to live by: When life sucks, read. They can't yell at you for that. And if they do, then you can ignore them...

Gretchen Wilson (doesn't she look like she'd be fun to hang out with?), Elizabeth George, Patrick Stewart, Steven King, J.K. I already met Kristin Stewart because she played Melinda in the movie version of SPEAK. Yes, she is awesome.

Thank you for accepting my request. Now I can stay informed :)
I really love your books - the way they are written. They are kind of addicting. I just grab a book and don't put it down before it's over. It would be great if more people in my country had the chance to read your books but unfortunately none of them is neither published, nor imported here. Nobody in the bookstores has ever heard about them... I had to order the books I wanted from the USA. Well, they were worth the effort :) Especially "Wintergirls".
Thank you again and have a nice day!

Hi,
I bet you get messages like this all the time. But I just have to add another one. Your books are just incredible. They made up most of the large stack of books I selected very carefully to take to college with me. I bought Wintergirls at the beginning of the summer, and I've read it about four times already. Speak's still my favorite, but Wintergirls struck a chord in me as well. After reading it the first two times, I thought, "If Lia has the courage to pick herself up, so do I." I got inpatient help recently and have since made a dramatic recovery.  Thanks to your book, I'm no longer a wintergirl.
You are a genius.
Many thanks,
~Rebecca

I read Wintergirls recently, and I loved it.
It was heartbreaking and very hard to read due to that, but I couldn't stop reading. You could really feel the emotions of Lia, her struggle with anorexia and dealing with Cassie. That's what made this book so very real to me. The emotions, and how you captured them oh, so perfectly like you always do.
I have to admit, this was one of my favorite books from you.
Congratulations on all of your success, and thank you for being such an inspiration for me. (:

Hello Ms. Anderson! I had the pleasure of meeting you last year at ALA, and I just wanted to let you know that I just finished "Wintergirls" and it was amazing! It was so beautifully haunting and brilliantly written. I don't know how you do it and I cannot wait to share Lia and Cassie's story with the girls in my school library! Thanks again for knowing exactly how to get in a teens head and knowing how to express their hopes, fears, and issues on paper. You make my job so easy!
