I am blown away to say how blessed I've been with some awesome opportunities that have allowed me the privilege of sharing music with you today. I have been exposed to some amazingly talented individuals especially during the last year who truly helped this project come to life. I have always sung and loved music, but never did I think I would be in Nashville TN recording with studio musicians who were involved in top artist albums that we hear on the radio everyday.
In March 2007, I was invited to a church in Ottawa Kansas where I was asked to perform a few songs with an old friend Dusty Workman who looked me up after not seeing one another since childhood. He had heard of me through a mutual friend that told him I was involved in music, and that I was playing in a local Kansas City band. After that night, the rest is history. I continued my participation in music with Dusty and met Eddie Kilgallon his producer who believed in me and my music and invited me to come to Nashville to do an album the right way.
I am a Topeka Kansas native and remember country music filling our home for as long as I can remember. Some of my favorites will always be Bop/ Country Roads/ Always on my Mind/ King of the Road/ Queen of Hearts... I could go on and on. I'd get to sing good ol' country music with my dad while he played the guitar. I learned quickly how to play chords on the piano so I could keep up. Those were the best lessons I ever had.
Unfortunately, my dad died in an accident more than 20 years ago, so has not been able to enjoy this process with us, but his spirit has always been alive and kickin in me for sure!! My loss was the inspiration for two of the songs that I wrote and included on the album. The rest were songs floating around in Nashville by some of the top Hitmakers today and I was blessed to be snag a few of them for my first project. I hope that in some way after listening to my album you think of things you want to do in your life and go for it!! Life is too short!!
