Laurie started playing the cello when she was eight years old. Raised in southcentral Pennsylvania, she traveled the world before returning home. She earned a Bachelor’s of Music Performance degree from the University of Miami in Coral Gables, FL, and a Master’s of Music Performance degree from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, CA. Following that (I think the heat got to her!), she played cello in a chamber ensemble on Maui for several years. That led her to Seattle, where she decided she needed an extended visit home. Since 1990 she has lived in PA.
While in Miami, Laurie worked in a jazz band called "Strings Attached." This band was a jazz rhythm section with a string quartet. Ira Sullivan performed with the band regularly. "Ira Sullivan & Strings Attached" has been re-mastered & transferred to CD & is available.

Laurie met Tom Reese soon after arriving in PA. Tom, flutist & composer, was playing jazz with his brother Kirk at a hotel. Tom’s jazz background & Laurie’s classical training met musically in celtic & folk music. It was the "middle ground" they shared. Traditional Irish, Scottish, & English tunes led to their duo, "MuZette." Chris Laughery, guitar/vocals, was added, & eventually drums, creating the band "Wyndfall." Tom & Laurie’s classical interests led to Susquehanna, a wind & string quartet. Susquehanna’s CD, "Conversations," won "Best Instrumental Album" in the Just Plain Folks 2002 Competition. It has originals by Tom & Laurie Reese, as well as arrangements of two folk songs sung by Chris Laughery.
The Reese Project plays lively jazz, blues, funk & classical music. Mesmerizing to watch, this unique quartet combines flute, cello, guitar & drums. Gorgeous compositions weave elements from around the world into up-tempo, high energy jazz and haunting sounds that flow from calypso to waltz feels. ’...music that rocks, pops and plays it cool’ (Guitar World). See www.TheReeseProject.net for tour schedule.
Happy Holidays to you and your Family. It's been quite a busy time and I hadn't had much of a chance to stop in. Hope everything is moving along nicely for you!
Happy New Year and may 2009 be a breakout year for you!
Oh great videos! Thanks for letting me know. The cello is beautiful. Didn't know Israel was big on record labels overseas - interesting. thanks for stopping by.
We play a lot of notes. We have a lot of blast beats. We scream and make a lot of noise. Some think we don't play enough breakdowns. We wear men's jeans. We like naked chicks. Naked chicks like us.
