O Lava teve várias formações, mas nos últimos cinco anos segui com Silvana Mello, Alê Briganti e Eliane Testone (que fizeram parte da lendária banda Pin Ups), Helena Fagundes e Danilo Costabile.
A banda lançou sua primeira demo em 1999, ainda em K7, chamada "Rookie" (358 Recs).
Em 2003, foi lançado o primeiro CD, La Motocyclette, pela 13 Records. Deste CD saram três clipes que foram exibidos pela MTV, "On and On", Killer Cards" e "Igloo", esse último, feito pela vocalista e artista plástica Silvana Mello, foi indicado no VMB 2004, na categoria melhor clipe independente.
Em 2004, o Lava participou de dois importantes festivais de rock independente: o Abril Pro Rock (Recife/PE) e Porão do Rock (Braslia/DF).
Em 2005 a banda gravou o terceiro CD,
Shiba, no estúdio El Rocha, em São Paulo, que foi mixado a masterizado por Fernando Sanchez (CPM22).
O CD "Shiba" (13 Records) tem 10 músicas, com as mesmas influências de rock, e foi lançado em abril de 2006.
