La Vita Williams Guitar Duo
Bret Williams and Giacomo La Vita are hailed as “a duo of spectacular energy and technical resource” (Nylon Review), and are billed as “rising stars in the New York classical guitar scene” (New York Classical Guitar Society).Classical Guitar Magazine profiled the duo as “alluring” and “accomplished.” Tony Morris of NPR’s Classical Guitar Alive! said "La Vita Williams Guitar Duo is an energetic young ensemble with a polished and warm sound.” The Montauk Pioneer wrote “The audience couldn't help but see how much passion there was and gave the duo a standing ovation after their stellar performance”
The two met at Mannes College of Music in New York City while attending graduate school. They studied under Frederic Hand and were coached by Michael Newman and Terry Champlin.
Both guitarists bring a unique personality to the stage; Bret Williams comes from Central California. He studied with Terry Mills from the University of the Pacific and received his Bachelors of Music from the University of Texas under Adam Holzman. Giacomo La Vita was born in Florence (It.) and raised in the United States. He studied with Ricardo Cobo and Ronn Yedidia prior to college. He received his Bachelors from Mannes and went on to win several national guitar competitions.
Soon after receiving their Masters Degrees the duo put out their first full-length CD featuring music from Spain and Latin America by composers Manuel de Falla, Isaac Albéniz, Astor Piazzolla, Sérgio Assad, and Alberto Ginastera.
Last summer the duo ended their 1st season with a performance along side Metropolitan Opera tenor Ronald Naldi at the 2007 Summer Stars Chamber Music Festival. Concerts this season include the Brooklyn Academy of Music, St. Peter's Church, Riverside Church, St. Paul’s Chapel at Columbia University (New York City), The Kimmel Center (Philadelphia, PA), Millerstown University (Philadelphia, PA), Baltimore College (Maryland), Centenary College (Hackettstown, NJ), Keeler Tavern Concerts (Ridgefield, CT), the New York Guitar Seminar, the Long Island Guitar Festival, and the Shandelee Summer Music Festival (Livingston Manor, NY).

La Vita-Williams Guitar Duo's Friend Space (Top 12)
A friend of mine once told me that me, there are those who have the ability to impress with there talent. Then there are those who have the ability to move people. La Vita-Williams could only be described as entrambi(both). I hope that wasn't an over the top compliment, or better yet, misuse of the word I chose but I really love this CD. I can't stop listening to it. Truly exceptional work. I take it everywere I go.
As I said it before, you guys sound great together. The 3rd movement of the Tango Suite by Piazzolla has a great new touch to it that goes the next step from what the Assads have done with it.
Hey Guys,
Your music sounds great! Giacomo, I don't know if you remember or not, but we were in the Stotsenberg competiton together! I hope things are going well for you. Take care!

La Vida Breve sounds great! I actually had the chance to meet John Williams and I discussed that piece with him at length. He prefers his later recording to the duo with Bream. I reminded him that the Bream recording had it's qualities as well. Keep up the good work!
