LAW & ORDER was a band that could easily fit into any musical genre and therefore got lost in the shuffle.
The band formed in 1988 in Staten Island,NY when SHANE(vocals),& ROB STEELE(both of the band ROMEO)were intorduced to SEAN CARMODY(bass)& PHIL ALLOCCO(guitar) by manager SCOTT KOENIG.
Their debut release Guilty Of Innocence was released in 1989 and featured two MTV videos for the songs We Don't See God and Soul Inside. The record also featured of a remake of the LYNYRD SKYNYRD classic The Needle & The Spoon.
Highlights of the first record included the Law & Order headlining one of the craziest shows anyone can ever think of.In October 1989 they headlined at Lamour in Brooklyn,NY and the opening acts were SOUNDGARDEN,VAIN,& WOLFSBANE...Definitely interesting it was.In 1990 they also shared the stage with DANGEROUS TOYS,BONHAM,RAGING SLAB and MSG.They were supposed to tour with MOTHER LOVE BONE in 1990 but the drug overdose death of MOTHER LOVE BONES'S ANDREW WOOD halted those plans.
In early 1991 drummer ROB STEELE left the band for personal reasons and joined forces with former OVERKILL guitarist BOBBY GUSTAFFSON in AN EYE FOR AN EYE.DAVID TODD replaced STEELE at the time and did record the drums tracks for their second record Rights Of Passage.ROB STEELE returned in April 1991 and made his live return with the band at Lamour in Brooklyn,NY in May 1991.
Rights Of Passage was released in September of 1991 and featured the MTV video for Rites Of Passage and the single Why Would You Lie To Yourself.
In 1991 the then unknown BLIND MELON opened for LAW & ORDER at The Fastlane in Asbury Park,NJ.LAW & ORDER also played some dates with PEARL JAM as well.
Around late 1991/early 1992 there was a cd single released for a song called Love Turned To Hate which was and still is very hard to find.It never appeared on a studio record.
In 1992 as the second album failed to chart and when MCA records(as people refer to as the Musical Cemetary Of America)failed to support the band and refused to release LAW & ORDER from their contract the band declared bankruptcy.
In the fall of 1992 they did record some new music(which would be released in 2005)and played dates around the NYC/NJ area until the spring of 1993.
LAW & ORDER called it quits in 1993 which left many LAW & ORDER diehards very saddended.
After LAW & ORDER disbanded SHANE & ROB STEELE formed an industrial band entitled URANIUM 235 which played dates with SAIGON KICK,SAXON,TYPE O NEGATIVE,& LIFE OF AGONY to name a few. They released their debut record in 2000.SEAN CARMODY and PHIL ALLOCO formed the band DOGMA(which was similar to LAW & ORDER)and recorded two records which included the 1998 release Feeding The Future.
In February 2004 SHANE & ROB STEELE performed as LAW & ORDER for the first time in nearly 11 years at Don Hills in N.Y.C.,NY peforming all the great LAW & ORDER tracks much to the delight of the LAW & ORDER faithful who were on hand.
In January 2005 Z Records released The Glass House which was music that LAW & ORDER recorded in 1993 and that many fans were asking for.
In January of 2007 and February of 2007 LAW & ORDER performed two live shows with original members SHANE and ROB STEELE in Red Bank,NJ & N.Y.C.,NY respectively.
On January 12th,2008 LAW & ORDER performed live at the new Lamour in Staten Island,NY.The show also featured AMERICAN ANGEL and TNA.
Many wonder will there ever be a LAW & ORDER reunion with all of the four original members.Simply, never say never...
