From the depths of Mirfield, a small town just outside Huddersfield, The Lawsons are a 5-piece band consisting of drums, guitar and bass.
Inspried by local bands and the dream of becoming one, Alex and Blake set out to find someone who shared their dream of starting up a band.
On a train to leeds, they discovered Ben and Adam who were in the ruins of an old band, they decided to give it a go and and started to scribble ideas down and practise in the living room of anyone's house who allowed it.
Not long after, the band was joined by Samantha Burrows as she took off writing lyrics to later form some of the bands newest material.
On the 18th of October this year, the band came 3rd in Live @ the Lounge competition in which music acts from all of Yorkshire competed! Impressive, eh??! ;)
After that the band went on to pay a visit to Beaumont Street Studios, where they recorded the band's first demo
Now the band practise in the basement of Sami's house, writing new songs and prancing around with candles... who knows where the future will take them...(hopefully some place good!)...
We Are Very Welcoming To Hearing What You Think Of Our Tracks, So If You Have An Opinion, Let Us Know!!
"I have to admit that I have already heard The Lawsons and I think they are fab. This and the other track they have on their site are worth a listen. Great ska sound. I imagine the chorus to this goes down well live. You don't even have to take into account that these are under 18s playing here. Makes no difference to the fact that they are bloody good. No, they are excellent. They could be the best thing to come out of Mirfield since...well forever. Take my advice and go to their site and listen to "I think I'll win". Sami's vocal is great and the ska arrangements are spot on. I must get to see them live."

"A real toe-tapper - enjoyed this one as well! It has a real ska feel to it and is really fast. The vocal was nice but could do with being a little stronger. I have a friend who has seen them and says they are superb live so I will try and catch them."
"Yorkshire music collective" (Jackie Hitchen)
"Wayhay! Save the best for last, why not? Excellent - what a really nice noise, full of energy and fun, and really nice guitar lick giving it a real drive. I wanna get up and bounce around to this. Vocal is a bit too quiet and unclear though - shame as she's got a nice voice and the lyrics hold a promise that if I had time to track them down, they'd be really worth the effort."
