My Conscious family worldwide
I am a product of what I called the "Golden Age in Hip Hop".We had it all from the conscious creations from Jungle Brothers to the historic 2 Live Crew.It also,for those who know was the mark of (in my opinion)the biggest conspiracy in music history,by the FCC and the Industry.From the late 80's to the early 90's,at least in Philly,with the exception of Lady Bee's(all respect due)show "Street Beat"which aired Sundays for about an hour,Clear Channel radio stations ran a campaign called the "No Rap Work Day" which meant just that.This was due to a lawsuit against Luke Skywalker(now known as Uncle Luke) and the 2-Live Crew for obscene use of language,disorderly conduct during performances, and they wanted them banned from making music,the same lyrics that flood the market today.The Industry also came at those artist who sample material,regardless of the message once again same as today with the exception of the MESSAGE,This is the same Industry that for years has malicously raped the creators of classics of their rights which means YES THE LABEL OWNS THE RIGHTS.They would also take the bulk of the artist earnings at shows (through bogus contracts)and just outright violate artist rights. Just as today violence ran rapid in the streets,and these same artist that were under attack came together to create songs stressing UNITY and the importance of EDUCATION,HERITAGE,SELF AWARENESS,and SELF ESTEEM.This is the element that I represent;that creative consciousness,R-EVOLUTIONARY.
