Everyone on this planet should be allowed to do, say, feel, think, and believe whatever the hell they want to, on two conditions:

    1) That they don't hurt anyone else in the process of doing, saying, feeling, thinking and believing whatever the hell they want to.

    2) That they don't go around trying to make other people do, say, feel, think, or believe what they do.

I guess my preaching this for all to see kind of makes me a hypocrite when you consider condition 2. But I just thought it needed saying. :)

  • Music

I believe in the power of trance to heal the world. Or at least to get it reaching for the lasers occasionally.

I have a weekly show on www.puredj.com every Friday from 1600-1845 UK time called The Rebirth Session.

I also have a monthly show on www.afterhours.fm on the first Monday of each month from 2000-2200 UK time called Back From The Dead.

I always try to ensure that my shows only include tunes that I like, rather than tunes which might be popular. The tunes I generally like are the ones that epitomise the most essential ingredient in trance that some people seem to forget about - MELODY.

Every show I've ever done, and there are probably more than 300 by now, is available for download, thanks to the amazing generosity of Stella, my number 1 fan :)

24 is the finest show to grace the earth - I want to be Jack Bauer when I grow up.
Lost is not dull or stupid either, it's actually an incredibly complex masterpiece.
Family Guy, South Park, The Simpsons, and American Dad are all genius.

My parents: I think this one goes without saying.

Moby: Put simply, without him, nothing, no musical obsession for me. The first artist who's work I could genuinely feel a special bond with. I can't think of any other producer in the history of EDM who has conquered more genres than he has. And to do it in the way he has, by stamping his own style onto each of them, is something I doubt any producer could hold a candle to for the rest of my lifetime.

Paul Oakenfold: Put simply, without him, I wouldn't be a DJ. I first heard him on Radio 1 back in 1992 playing at a Dutch event with Fierce Ruling Diva and Altern8. He kicked off with the Perfecto mix of Deacon Blue "Your Town" and as they say, the rest is history. Suddenly, I wanted to be a DJ. Seven years later when I finally saw him DJ in the flesh at Gatecrasher, I was reminded of this, and it was shortly afterwards that I began to badger my then-housemate to teach me to mix. Oakey gets a lot of stick these days, and he doesn't deserve it. Because without him the scene today would be a lot different.

Stephen King: Unquestionably the finest living writer of the English language. Anyone who dismisses him as a horror hack probably hasn't read much of his work. I read a hell of a lot, but not one writer has been as prolific and consistent over a 30 year period than him. His work has got me through a few tough times, has enriched my life, and inspired my sense of awe in ways I doubt even he could put into words. But he probably could.

About me:

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

This is just something I think people should bear in mind before they go doing stupid things like murdering innocent people because their favourite book is different. I'll always respect anyone's right to believe whatever the hell they want to (check my life's mantra over on the left) but I have no respect at all for anyone who thinks those who don't agree with them deserve to die. If that makes me a heathen or an infidel then so be it, I'll take my chances.

This isn't me by the way, it's just a picture that I find amusing. DJ's are notorious for having problems with their egos and I've never understood what the big deal is. At the end of the day we're just glorified jukeboxes really :)

Episode 161 - 5th December 2008

My name is Matty, and many of you will know me as this strange bloke who bumbles around places bumping into things and knocking things off shelves and stuff. If you've met me in person I've probably knocked over your drink or spilled your ashtray or trod on your toe or something. I have the grace of a lame crab, as anyone who's ever seen me on a dancefloor will confirm. Hi to all of you, pleasure to see you again :)

My other name is Lazarus, and many of you will know me as this trance DJ who is deeply suspicious of the digital revolution and thinks Ableton sounds like a rather camp cocktail with a fluffy umbrella in it. I have a weekly show on a Friday over at www.puredj.com where I bring the weekend in for a landing that can only be described as pounding, melodic, and very very loud.

Everything you need to know about me DJing-wise can be heard:
Every Friday at Pure DJ at 1600-1845 GMT / 1100-1345 EST

There are a lot of great sites out there on the internet. One of the things that depresses me a little is that we have the best information resource at our disposal since the dawn of time yet most people use it to look at naked women. Whether this just says we're a race of wankers is a matter of opinion, but if you're out there and fancy looking at something different for a change, you can't go wrong with any of these sites!

Some of you may also be aware that owing to my boycott of the digital revolution, I will only use CD decks for digital-only or amateur productions. Myspace is a great source of material for this, but feel free to also check out the fabulous artists at these sites as well!

..

Remember, illegal downloading of tunes is destroying the industry. These amateur producers are the lifeblood of the future so please always be sure to support them :)

If you like forums, I'm a regular on several of them and some of you may know me from there. I've somehow managed to even blag mod/admin status at some of them! Feel free to check them out:

Who I'd like to meet:

"In the beginning there was nothing - and then Ronald MacDonald said "Hang on, I can make money out of this..."

"If you were happy every day of you life, you wouldn't be a human being, you'd be a gameshow host."

"I'd rather live for forty than suffer for eighty."

"At the end of the day, it's all just a case of perspective."

"The best way to predict the future is to create it."

"It's not a question of if you're paranoid, it's if you're paranoid enough."

"If in doubt....innovate."

"A weekend wasted is never a wasted weekend."

"Once we were an Empire, ruled by an Emperor. Then we were a Kingdom, ruled by a King. Now we're a country..."

"It's all about efficiency."

"Growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional."

"It's marketing gone MAD I tell you!"

"I mean, doesn't this blend of blandness and blindness make you want to do something crazy? So why not do something crazy? It makes a hell of a lot more sense than blowing your fucking brains out!"

"It's not a crime to make mistakes, but it is a crime not to learn from them."

"A little pain never hurt anybody."

"It's just Good Evolutionary Sense."

"Whatever doesn't kill you can only make you stronger."

"When faced with complete disaster, total defiance is the only possible answer."

"It's better to love yourself than to hate yourself."

"If you aren't striving for perfection you might as well be dead."

"Give me Liberty or give me Death."

"Every journey is its' own reward."

I might be strong, I might be weak, I might be mild, I might be meek, I might talk shite each time I speak, But when I dance, I rock.

Go then...for there are other worlds than these...

We are ka-tet. We are one from many.

Helo, Lazarus I’m just stopping by to promote a new house remix featured by Dahveed, a really cool male singer from Illinois (USA). The track is called ‘Give It To The World’ and it’s a mixture between house music and my usual trance style. We are handing out promos for djs, radios, etc (if you are interested, of course).
New productions will be coming soon… Please, keep me updated about all your news and releases too. Many thanks for your attention and reading

Helo, Lazarus I hope everything’s going great. I haven’t been too inspired in the last weeks but, finally, I have something new to present: It’s a remix of the commercial track ‘Tanto’ (‘So Much’ in English) featured by the Mexican band Azara (www. myspace. com/azara) who will be performing in Spain next month. My remix is not exactly to jump as mad on the dancefloors cos it’s only at 120 bpm but, anyway, it’s cool for… maybe relaxing :-) About its style it is a kind of electro-trance but you know I’m a mess talking about styles.
Whatever feedback, idea you have to improve it, etc will be always welcome. Then, if you think I deserve your vote in thedjlist (I’m IRIS DEE JAY there) it will be more than welcome aswel! Hugs from me and tons of thanks!:-)
