Originating from Boston and currently based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, Jaya the Cat play an uncompromising and original mix of reggae, punk rock and ska music. Founded through a mutual love of 60’s and 70’s dub and punk by three friends (Geoff Lagadec - vocals/guitar, Dave Smith - guitar/vocals and Ben Murphy - bass), Jaya The Cat create songs ranging from booze fueled anthems to chilled out dance tracks to outright political commentary. Following the 2001 release of their debut album ‘Basement Style’ (Gold Circle Records), Jaya The Cat were joined by ex-Shadows Fall drummer David ‘The Germ’ Germain and began a steady touring schedule of stages across the United States and Europe, playing major clubs and festivals such as Lowlands in Holland, Pukkelpop in Belgium, and the Warped Tour in the US. Their music has also been featured in numerous skate, surf and snowboard videos.
November 16th of 2007 will see the European release of their third studio album entitled ‘More Late Night Transmissions with Jaya The Cat’ on I Scream records. Drawing on their experiences, ‘More Late Night Transmissions with…’ delivers 13 tracks filled with seedy bars, cheap hotels, dysfunctional love affairs and political disillusionment. Punk rock, reggae, ska and pop glued in their own unique style.
Singer Geoff Lagadec: ‘I think the new record is a bit deeper than the last two and in my opinion we’ve progressed a lot musically. We took more chances than we did on the last two albums plus Amsterdam is a pretty international city, so it's exposed me to a lot of new influences’.
With a current line up including Jordi ‘Pockets’ Nieuwenburg on guitar, Steven Brautigam on bass, and Onverwagt ..boards, expect to see Jaya the Cat at a festival or club near you soon!
Lazy Days is glad to announce the return of bulgarian top live act Wickeda.Their mixture of ska, punk and reggae has proved its' effects all over the european club circuit and festival stages in the last 7 years.
After a small break, and a change of line-up(new drummer and keyboard player),the band will be recording new material very soon and is ready to hit Europe again in 2008.
Wickeda is one of the best bulgarian alternative bands, has sold more than 60 000 albums and has won multiple awards throughout the years. The band hasn't stopped touring for the last few years, playing stages like the Melkweg(Amsterdam) or Kulturbrauerei(Berlin) as well as reputated festivals such as Eurosonic,Exit or Sziget.
Have you ever been beaten round the face by a choirboy?
Or felt up by a clown?
Have you ever had your feet tickled by Satan?
No?
Can you imagine what it might SOUND LIKE?
No need! Here's The Display Team, London's premier exponents of music that does all of the above and a bunch of stuff you'd never have thought of.
Formed in 2000, this six-piece has taken the best bits of Madness, Mad Caddies, Frank Zappa and The Beach Boys and done unspeakable things with them. The result is a heavy, yet gloriously melodic, upbeat yet extremely pessimistic punch in the brain.
To borrow a term once used to describe underground heroes Cardiacs, The Display Team play what could be loosely-called 'pronk': progressive punk. They've taken their frenetic live show all over London, around England and beyond, picking up a bunch of strays and stragglers on the way, affectionately referred to as 'the fans'. This loyal following have lapped up the band's latest EP, 'Huzzah!', with some elevating it to the point of daily mantra.
The Display Team don't want to scrounge off the state anymore. They want to record fantastic, EXCITING albums and tour wherever possible, inspiring some to dance, some to yelp and some to fall over.
Panican Whyasker is an alternative rock band formed in 1999 in Sofia, Bulgaria. In 2000, the band released their first album, R'N'R Coma, which was nominated and won the award for the Best Debut at the Bulgarian Music TV (MM) Annual Awards Show the same year.
Their follow-up album, entitled Digital Zombie, came out in 2001. The album won the award for the Best Rock Album at the MM Awards show in 2002. The band's third album, called Eastern European Monkeys was released in the summer of 2005 and once again won the award for the Best Rock Album at the MM Awards show the following year. Unlike their previous two albums, Panican's latest album contains 10 songs written entirely in English.
Over the last six years, the band has played extensively in clubs and at festivals all over Bulgaria. Their career highlight so far was in April 2004 when they supported American alternative-rock legends Living Colour at their gig in Sofia, which was part of their world tour. This was followed by opening acts for Fun Loving Criminals (2006,Sofia) and producer Billy Gould's (Faith No More) La Plebe (2006).
For the last three years, the band's drummer, Dakata, has also been gaining touring experience at European clubs and festivals with the Bulgarian ska-punk band Wickeda.
Panican Whyasker is a band whose potential is fully realized at live performances where you could experience a mixture of aggressive sound and charismatic interaction with the audience backed up by on-stage multi-media.
The band is currently rehearsing and working on new songs for their upcoming fourth album, expected in the spring of 2008.
It al started January 2005 when a Dutch reggae trombone player, named Giel Mulder, had the idea to found an early reggaeband. Not to copy the 60’s reggae sound, but to take it by the hand and use it in his own way. Together with singer/songwriter Boss van Trigt he searched for the right musicians to complete the band. In no time ‘ the Upsessions’ were a fact.
Soon ‘ the Upsessions’ recorded their first demo-CD and sent it to record labels , magazines and booking agencies. Some booking agencies and record labels directly showed their interest in ‘ the Upsessions’. In the meantime the Upsessions had their first couple of shows in Holland, successfully. After a gig at Holland’s biggest skafestival, the Dutchskafestival, in the melkweg in Amsterdam, the Upsessions went international, playing in France, Switzerland, Belgium and at big festivals (this-is-ska festival and summer safari) in Germany.
In september 2006 the Upsessions proudly signed a contract offered by legendary UK Ska record label ‘MoonSkaWorld’ , bringing out their album ‘ the New Heavyweight Champion’ in may 2007. Right now, ‘the Upsessions’ are ready to play anywhere, anytime, recognized by their steady rhythm section, unbelievable organ sound, and their sharp-dressed, infectious performance.

CRANIUM MUSIC (New Zealand) ?The band has propelled itself into the enviable position of being an eminent member of the international music scene& A unique presence in Hungarian music life, which produces genuine music that has never been labelled as a certain kind of music genre& An antithesis of Hungarian pop business, made thoughtful use of the popularity of techno, acid and progressive dance music and emerged with tunes that were a cross-section of psychedelic punk rock, ethno and modern dance music, although the band members themselves refer to their music as a state of mind or general effusion& Music and cinema under the same roof, a complex entertainment for the eye and the ear.
