Lazy Lorelei was formed sometime in September 2005 when siblings Carl and Lourdes decided to pursue their dream of forming a band. Wally, a friend of Carl was recruited to play guitar temporarily while Lourdes wasn’t able to do the guitar chores due to her aching wrist pain. Pao, on the other hand who is a friend of Wally, after watching the band’s previous drummer play at one gig eventually volunteered to play drums because he felt that he suits the position instead of the previous drummer. Then, Wally eventually became an official member after contributing to making Lazy Lorelei’s music.

The name Lazy Lorelei was inspired by Cocteau Twins songs, Lorelei and Lazy Calm. The vocalist of Spring Boutique is also another reason for naming the band because of her soothing vocals and poppy melodies which reminded them of a lazy sunday summer afternoon in the park.
