In the autumn of 2008 Lazy Swamis rose quickly from the ashes of the Booker Brothers Band. Searching for a more energetic style, N.Y.C. bassist Michael (Bliz) Blizzard was recruited to join drummer and vocalist Andy (Cosmos) Booker and L.A. guitarist and vocalist Todd Sibert.
Part time Swamis and guests frequently mount the stage and infiltrate the studio to fill out the rhythmic central trio. Don’t be surprised if you come to see Lazy Swamis and your local favorite musician shows up for a song or a set. Far from being an exclusive act, Lazy Swamis believe that collaboration will produce greater variety and talent, gifts that are always welcome. This inclusiveness generates the goodwill and musical joy that Lazy Swamis sway audiences with. Lazy Swamis always welcome like minded musicians and other performers.
Lazy Swamis dish up a spicy mix of original and cover music that ranges from blues to rock and reggae, always with a funky edge. Fearless improvisation rules the day, and familiar songs take on new color and style. Rarely playing anything the same way twice, no musical idea is off limits. This band “plays” music, and clings tightly to the belief that it is called “playing” music for a reason. Call it Zen or intuition, Lazy Swamis birth live alternate interpretations of popular favorites and drag obscure gems into the light on a regular basis.
As a relatively new band of experienced musicians and songwriters, Lazy Swamis are often at their best breaking new ground. Whether re-interpreting a classic, intertwining favorites or laying down a new groove, Lazy Swamis will seek out the fun in any music they perform and invite their friends and audience to do the same.
