Carl Williams - Owner/General Manager
Carl is the Owner and General Manager of the newly formed A.B.A Team in Long Beach, The Long Beach Breakers. He plans on creating and bringing an exciting brand of basketball to the city of Long Beach as well as an A.B.A CHAMPIONSHIP!!! Carl wants the team to be a great big family affair.
In 2006, Carl became the General Manager of The Hollywood Fame Team of the American Basketball Association (A.B.A.). The ownership group consisted of Nick Lachey, Stacy Keibler, Brady Anderson, and Kyle Boller. The Fame along with former Long Beach State and Utah JAZZ great Bryon Russell made the playoffs advancing to the second round.
Carl Williams is a California native born in the bay area in the city of Berkeley. At the age of nine he moved with his family to Washington D.C. His father, Carl Williams Sr. worked for the Secret Service and guarded President Nixon and President Ford. At a young age Carl Jr. realized that being the son of a secret service agent did have its advantages. How about this for fun….he learned how to swim at President Nixon’s summer home in San Clemente, CA. as he was thrown into the President’s pool by Secret Service Agents and told to sink or swim. He swam...
After 6 years in Washington D.C., the family came back to California but this time to Orange County in Southern California. Carl went to school at Cypress High School where he played on the basketball team. Carl and his friends spent a lot of time during the summer playing on the outside basketball courts in Belmont Shores.
Upon graduating from Cypress High School, Carl attended the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs for one year then transferred back closer to home to Cal State Fullerton in Orange County. There he played basketball while working on a degree in communications.
Years later, Carl and his brother Alex Williams produced and promoted celebrity basketball games in which they would have various celebrities in the entertainment industry, musicians and actors compete on the basketball court against the number one music radio stations across the country. The games were for charity. The money that was raised went to an Entertainer or Professional Athlete’s Foundation. Because of the relationship that Carl developed with certain athletes and entertainers, he became a business manager to their financial, marketing, promotion, and public relations needs.
Carl is very close to his family. His mother Nikki Williams runs one of the top Youth Programs in the country, Berkeley Youth Alternatives (B.Y.A.), out of the city of Berkeley. His brother Kevin Williams is In-House Counsel and Director of Development & Policy for his mother’s program (B.Y.A.). In, addition, he is the Associate Director of the Center for Public Health Practice at the University of California-Berkeley (UC Berkeley) and a lecturer within UC Berkeley’s School of Public Health. His brother Alex, was All-American and led the nation in three pointers during his time at Sacramento State University. He is now also working with BYA as Director of Sports & Fitness. His father Carl Sr., is now a retired Secret Service Agent and is working behind the scenes as The Breakers' Assistant General Manager.
Carl Williams is a Pisces, single, and currently lives on the cliffs of San Pedro, California. You can find Carl in National Lampoons “LOST REALITY” series. Believe it or not, Carl also finds time for modeling. Look for him on various brochures, posters, and the website for Bally’s Total Fitness.
Peggy White - Vice President of Operations
Beautiful as well as talented, Peggy White brings a long-running track record of success in consultative sales, sales management and strategic planning to the Long Beach Breakers organization. Born and raised in Gary, Indiana as the oldest of three, Peggy learned and developed her ability for strong leadership, tenacity early in life.
Following the completion of her studies at Indiana University where she earned a BS degree in marketing with a minor in communications, Peggy moved to Southern California. As sales, marketing and management specialist, Peggy has spent the last 20 years in several roles including a manager of a retail furniture store and an outside sales consultant for a travel agency. She has also served as an Area Sales Manager of a sales staff of over 10 at Pitney Bowes Corporation for over 8 years. In 2001, she secured the role of Assistant Vice President and Commercial Loan Officer for the California Business Banking Group with Wells Fargo. Peggy served as a key player successfully creating business relationships with revenue generation in excess of $3.5M.
Following Wells Fargo, Peggy served as District Solutions Manager for the Pitney Bowes Corporation where she effectively managed a sales quota of over $2.4M. In 2004, Peggy then moved to Harte Hanks Penny Saver as a Regional Sales Manager and most recently serves as an Advertising Sales Consultant.
As an accomplished leader, Peggy’s energy and drive to excellence will prove to be a vital part of the Breaker’s success in the community. She remains focused on relationship building, business development, customer service and innovative methodologies to obtain optimum results.
Peggy has an undeniable presence in the community helping friends, family and business associates while maintaining a very supportive and talented family. She is the mother of 4 fabulous sons, Jason, Corey, Elijah and Sam of which Corey, Elijah and Sam are also very talented basketball players. She is also the wife of the ultimate basketball enthusiast and head boy’s basketball coach at Van Nuys High School, Charles White.
Given Peggy’s determination, corporate accomplishments and balance of family and career, she is the recipe for long term success of the Long Beach Breakers.
Olden Polynice - Head Coach/Assistant General Manager
Olden Polynice played with the Seattle SuperSonics, Los Angeles Clippers, Detroit Pistons, Sacramento Kings, and Utah Jazz of the National Basketball Association (NBA). After graduating from All Hallows High School in the Bronx, he played college basketball at the University of Virginia. After graduating, he was selected 8th overall by the Chicago Bulls in the 1987 NBA Draft. Polynice was traded for Scottie Pippen, before either player had ever stepped on an NBA court.
In 15 NBA seasons, Polynice averaged 23.5 minutes, 7.8 points, and 6.7 rebounds per game, with a respectable career PER of 13.2. At 6'11", Olden was often signed by teams in need of a good rebounder and tough interior player, and Polynice ranks among the NBA's all-time leaders in offensive rebounds. Polynice retired from the NBA in 2004 after a brief return to the Clippers that season.
