Ok, we are NOT that far off from 4th place to make the tournament, so hopefully we will have a nice showing at practice on Fri at 630 at the Villa fields....We are only a game or two back from the 4th pl team....
So game stats?? How's everyone doing? Hey Stubs. . do you remember what the horse D.P. was for? First year of you showing everyone what a Donkey Punch was. ahahaha! good times.
Thanks everyone for a great season in both Melrose and Villa this year. To all the last yr veterans, great job. To the newbies, great job. To the various subs we've had, thanks for helping out. Very special thanks to Andrea for creating the team and managing it for the last two years, you will be missed! Best of luck to you in Ohio. :)

Ok, I have to find out exactly WHO is wrestling, and who you want to wrestle... I will have rules, and at least a start of a line up of matches... BTW Girls FIRST! :)

Hopefully we don't get rained out again Weds. - although I am starting to think it is karma to push our tournament back a week - if we all get a chance to hang out and have a good time Friday we may have a chance to play better and become a team again. Ok, it's cheesy, but you never know, if we can bond over a keg and jello, maybe we can win. Lol.
Either day, I'm there. . . ONLY if we have at least 10 people, I don't need more batting practice (well, maybe I do, but I can go to the cage for that).
So no comments at all on a real team practice I see...hmm. Weds may be bad, but is anyone up for one over the weekend? If not the weekend before it starts?
I know games are cancelled at Villa bc of a baseball tourney, so we can't practice there, as far as I know. There are fields right near my house if people want to do it there, I don't think anything is going on on weds night....or Andrea, maybe you have a suggestion..? I think we should keep it to Weds, since we normally had the time marked out - say 630p? I don't want to be the only one. Andrea, let me know where you want to do it.
We had a GREAT season, 8 wins in a row!! If anyone is to say any different, your crazy!Nobody walked into that league thinking we would have won that many games, we beat the UNDEFEATED team! We can't go out there with poor or cocky attitudes and expect the best when nothing nice is being said! We have to stay positive, have some team support... I am up for practice!! I think we need it, I think Frank is right, we need to take a step back... and look at how we act sometimes!! We can win this tournament in Villa Park, our heads just have to be in the right place, and our hearts need to be back in the game! We now have the time and energy to focus on the tournament! Let me know when practice is!
Do ya'll realize that we do our best when we don't know what we're facing? When the team is familiar, we don't always do so well.
I'm very frustrated with a few of you. I set up practice for Sunday. . 4 people came out. THAT'S IT! I understand that people have things to do. . I have a life of my own. . However, it would have been nice to hear from you, letting me know you won't be there. You will find that many of the one's who didn't show will be the first to complain that they weren't put in a game. I know many of you think that you don't need it and its not for individual improvement, its for TEAM improvement. Therefore, we need the WHOLE team to make it effective. Four of us is basically batting practice. Its playoff time. . if there is a practice. . make it a priority or shut your mouth about a loss like last night.
I, also, know that tensions are high during games. I get pissed sometimes, but last night some lines were crossed. WE DON'T SWEAR AT PEOPLE (especially on the other team) and we DON'T try to make someone on OUR team feel bad about their performance because we have our own frustrations. Can't happen. Won't be tolerated. Its my job to keep us in the game and to keep us as a team.. . I'll start making appointments to kick some asses if need be.
When this team started we had no hope of winning. . . we just wanted to have fun. . . we started to win and that drove us. When we started Melrose we thought we were going to get spanked on a weekly basis. . and we started to win. After we start to win and form expectations, things get tense and we don't play with the heart that we should and we start to lose. Jimmy, you were right. I was frustrated last night but we play because we want to have fun... my apologies.
i just want to thank everyone for a great season but i think last night was my last game i wish you luck in the playoffs and maybe i will be on the fall season ...... ps if you need coire there i am sure i can get her there but sometimes its better to take a step back ........ good luck and kick ass and see you in the fall
Very tough loss tonight, team. Let's try to stay positive and think about the good times in MP - we will always have that win over the undefeated team and that was the best game ever! Moving on...
We need our Rocky spirit back, guys. We aren't the same team we were before, we need that heart back. If you guys want to seriously gear up for this tournament, and get our team back, let's give it a shot. I suggest that we get together this week on Weds if possible or the weekend, as many of us as possible, and come to work. A REAL practice.
If we haven't learned yet, we aren't going to be able to count on getting lucky with rallies and errors anymore. We need a tougher offense and a tougher defense and a better team attitude. If you truly care about at least trying to win this tournament, as a team, you will be up for practice this week. We are better than this but it isn't going to come easy.
Forget tonight and try to learn from the season in MP. We can't go into games as individuals and expect to form a team in 5 min on the field with changes every week.
Seriously though, we need to work if we want to win, so hit me up or leave a comment if you are down to do this. I say we find a field for Wednesday night.
Sorry I can't will be working at the Fiesta Del Sol. We got a lower seed in the playoffs, but we look to face three teams we beat. Lets not let them get revenge. If everybody makes all the games we should be good.
I don't think the paid tourney is a big deal really if we skip out - I thought it was the playoffs we had to pay for, so as long as we are in those, I'm all good. We can start getting things ready for Fall.
Ok. . I'm totally in for the fall season (checking sponsors now). I think if you guys decide you want to do the tournament, that's cool, but I won't be able to play much. We'll have playoffs, Villa Park game and then more the following days. . . I don't have that kind of endurance. I was in hellish pain after the Sunday, Tues, Wed games last week.... I have NO doubt we could kick ass and take names. . especially if it were at a later date. ~

There may be more, so I think we have enough interest for fall - leave a comment on here if anything has changed...seems like Andrea had the impression before we didn't have the interest, so let's all make sure so we can go get sponsor $...
Anyone notice we are tied for second at Melrose (who would of thunk it). Last night was not a big deal it really doesn't effect the standings. We were out of the bye anyway. We can beat all those other teams (and we know it right).
Since we are playing at night, I think it's safe to wear our standard uniforms...plus, if it's hot as hell, a white shirt isn't going to make a difference. We paid 20 for the shirts, might as well wear them.
Last night was just a mess and I think a few themes emerged..
1) We need to be more of a team. It seems like people aren't supporting each other like we used to. If we are in the dugout, we should be on the bench with our teammates and cheering on our players, not wandering around, walking here or there, socializing, etc. We have to keep our heads in the game.
2) If we are coming an hour before the game to practice, then we should practice. Other than a few of us throwing, it was nearly impossible to get people out there to field. Plus, it seems when we do practice, half of the team goes and sits down while the rest shag the balls. If people are shagging balls for you, please return the favor.
3) It might be a good idea to bring paper and sharpies and a piece of tape, so whoever does the lineup can make a quick copy to stick on the fence, that way the person doing the books can focus on the game and not having to tell us who's up every 5 seconds.
Those are my two cents. Hopefully we learned a bit from last night and will get our heads in the game a little more while we finish the season. See you Sun.
