Whether around a festival campfire or on the stage, Lindsey Clear’s open, heartfelt approach to music charms listeners and musicians alike. Lindsey’s love for music was nurtured early in her life by a supportive family who frequented folk and bluegrass festivals across the country. Her songwriting influences are diverse including powerhouse talents such as Darrell Scott, Nanci Griffith, Patty Griffin and even the quirky humor of Robert Earl Keen. Lindsey’s unique voice carries her own lyrics which collect friendships, mountain scenery, and thoughtful reminiscence, and mixes them into a soothing, energetic sound.
Lindsey and her guitar are joined by the Clear Mountain Boys whose members come from very different musical backgrounds, making the music eclectic and exciting for both the crowd and the band. LCMB are Ty Jaquay on fiddle and alto saxophone, Rob Kraft on mandolin and fiddle, Chris Bern on upright bass, Ryan Snyder on banjo, and Zachary Byrd on lead guitar and backing vocals. Jaquay comes from eighteen years of experience in classical music and four years of sawing on the fiddle with his other band The Hillbilly Gypsies. Kraft also has a background in classical and orchestral music but his licks on the mandolin echo the work of pioneering bluegrass greats. Bern and Snyder have been playing music together for over a decade and were founding members of From the Hip, a popular high-energy acoustic band in northern West Virginia. Byrd, a third generation musician, has played with several groups across the country. His impressive guitar licks and tasteful harmonies ring like those of a seasoned veteran. Together, Lindsey and the Clear Mountain Boys have a sound that blends the contemporary folk genre with a bluegrass spirit.
