Luka's Interests
|
| General | Whatever my friends are into. China, Germany, Architecture, Interior Design, Urban Planning, Community Development, global poverty policy, environment, truth and jesus. ''Many of us think modern art is rubbish because our visual education ended at the age of about seven.''-Zoe Williams, The Guardian | | Music | www.joeeisenbraun.com

I really like Geggy Tah. You've never heard them, or you did (I just want to thank you) in the mercedes commercial or for the few months it got radio play, but you certainly didn't connect. Or did you?
Actually, there are a whole lot of bands from when I was cool....Better Than Ezra, Semisonic, Travis, | | Movies | Crash, that just came out (not the one about the car crash fetishist)
Euro-trip had me absolutely laughing out loud, even though (or because?) it was completely crude and vulgar.
The Girl in the Cafe (an HBO original?) was pretty cool. Iceland is cool, tragically unhip bureaucrats are cool, the radical young women unhip bureaucrats dig are cool. | | Television | I haven't had a tv in...3 years...but me and all my friends who don't watch tv are very into Arrested Development. Funny, there is a tv in my room in China, but I don't think it works.

Favorite Magazines:
The Economist
The Atlantic Monthly
The New Yorker | | Books | I have an Amazon.com wishlist--feel free to send me books:)
Most anything. Contemporary German Fiction. Economics/Environment, Development, theology, etc. A Suitable Boy by Vikram Seth, Beyond Belief by V.S. Naipaul, Let the Nations be Glad by John Piper. Maybe I'll come back and post a whole list. I tend to recommend books during conversations. And I hope to read some long books during my time in China. | | Heroes | heroes? I think hero is a bit of a strange word. Ought to figure out the origins. I have some dead folks I admire--Corrie Ten Boom, C.S. Lewis, Dietrich Bonhoeffer, and living folks who have been incredible role models, good friends, real encouragement. |

Who I'd like to meet:
(whom, actually)
People who read good books. People who like to make and eat good food. People who like my laugh. People who mean to be better than they are.
