GeneralWhatever my friends are into. China, Germany, Architecture, Interior Design, Urban Planning, Community Development, global poverty policy, environment, truth and jesus. ''Many of us think modern art is rubbish because our visual education ended at the age of about seven.''-Zoe Williams, The Guardian
Musicwww.joeeisenbraun.com www.newtimber.net I really like Geggy Tah. You've never heard them, or you did (I just want to thank you) in the mercedes commercial or for the few months it got radio play, but you certainly didn't connect. Or did you? Actually, there are a whole lot of bands from when I was cool....Better Than Ezra, Semisonic, Travis,
MoviesCrash, that just came out (not the one about the car crash fetishist) Euro-trip had me absolutely laughing out loud, even though (or because?) it was completely crude and vulgar. The Girl in the Cafe (an HBO original?) was pretty cool. Iceland is cool, tragically unhip bureaucrats are cool, the radical young women unhip bureaucrats dig are cool.
TelevisionI haven't had a tv in...3 years...but me and all my friends who don't watch tv are very into Arrested Development. Funny, there is a tv in my room in China, but I don't think it works. How about favorite, oft-visited links? www.mattkirkland.com www.nytimes.com www.guardian.co.uk www.desiringgod.org Favorite Magazines: The Economist The Atlantic Monthly The New Yorker
BooksI have an Amazon.com wishlist--feel free to send me books:) Most anything. Contemporary German Fiction. Economics/Environment, Development, theology, etc. A Suitable Boy by Vikram Seth, Beyond Belief by V.S. Naipaul, Let the Nations be Glad by John Piper. Maybe I'll come back and post a whole list. I tend to recommend books during conversations. And I hope to read some long books during my time in China.
Heroesheroes? I think hero is a bit of a strange word. Ought to figure out the origins. I have some dead folks I admire--Corrie Ten Boom, C.S. Lewis, Dietrich Bonhoeffer, and living folks who have been incredible role models, good friends, real encouragement.

About me:
I'm in St. Louis, gearing up for the next adventure. Pictures at lucasneece.shutterfly.com ''...it does look as if it's been constructed in lego by a particularly depressed child who's left all the coloured bricks out of their collection.'' -Owen Sheer, The Guardian

Eh? Leisure activity? Wiffleball is hard beans! I have the shirt to prove it. Man, we play tough. Playoffs start this Saturday, and InterVarsity soccer started last week.

But, yes, my parents know my every move. We E-mail regularly. Don't tell anyone--I think he would be offended if anyone told him that they know--but my dad has a MySpace account that he uses to flit over our posts and things.

I am currently working on a compiled list of books you must read. This is trickier than you think because some of the books I would have you read must be done in a particular order, e.g. one must read Salinger before Joyce.

I think the most aggravating thing about you being in China is that when you return you will have all of my stories trumphed. You are making go look for a REAL doozy.

I got an 'A' on my paper. So yeah, I'm bragging on myself, but I'm really excited about this. It was my first college essay.
