My interests range from acting, singing, & writing, to cooking, exercising (mostly yoga, Pilates, & swimming), & hiking.
I also enjoy traveling whenever I can get the opportunity. Hiking provides an opportunity for some small travel time close to home.
I like to sip a warm cup of coffee at my favorite coffee shop, or read an inspirational book in my spare time.
Laurance and I enjoy taking a trip to the movie theatre at least once a month, so far this summer we have seen
The Chronicles of Narnia II: Prince Caspian, Kung Fu Panda, and Wall-E. We would have gone to see more movies, but the day after we saw Wall-E, I broke my ankle skating.
We also enjoy going to the swimming
pool, and playing with our dog Hera, or our 3-cats, Blackavar, Cassiopeia (Cassie), &
Gryffindor (Griffy).
I enjoy getting my fiction fix from movies, or writing my own.
As for my reading I read more inspirational books.

Tara was Miss Washington 2004. She was the 15th runner up for Miss USA that same year.
As for my overall taste in music, I have varied interests. I enjoy Rock & Roll, U2 is my hands down favorite
rock band of all time. Additionally, I enjoy listening to blues, jazz, folk, folk rock, & New Age. Lately, I have been leaning more
toward the roots music, and Natalie Merchant because the various styles are better suited for my vocal quality. These are the days ..

Movies
As for my favorite type of movie, well I will confess, I like a good chick flick.
I enjoy drama above anything else. I also enjoy a good romance with my drama. Comedy is great, no one is funnier than Robin Williams.
Additionally, I like adventure, action, a good thriller is sometimes perfect to end a boring day. Now and then, I enjoy a good scare.
My favorite movies of all time are Gone With the Wind, A Streetcar Named Desire (I am a student of Tennessee Williams),
The Color Purple, and Rain Man. Recently, I added The Pianist to my list of favorites. My favorite foreign
film is Before the Rain. My favorite comedies are Shrek, and Shrek 2. My favorite horror movie would have to
be The Ring. My favorite animated movie is Happy Feet. I also enjoy New Age movies, of course, The Secret,
and What the Bleep Do We Know are the first to come to mind. However, I also include What Dreams May Come in the
New Age category, it is one my all time favorites.

Television
As for television, I really liked "NYPD Blue" and I was sorry to see it leave the air. My son and I like the Thursday night comedies on ABC and NBC. We rarely miss an episode of "Ugly Betty" or "My Name is Earl" on NBC; good thing we have a DVR since they are both on at the same time. I like "Grey's Anatomy", but Laurance is not so into that one (it's a chick show). We also like "Ghost Whisperer" on CBS Friday. I like to watch "Desperate Housewives" on ABC Sunday. I would like to watch more "Law & Order", but the content is too intense for Laurance. I think I am pushing it with "Desperate Housewives."

Books
I do not read much fiction or true story works. I prefer writing my own fiction, or watching it. As for reading I will curl up with a good inspirational book by Wayne Dyer, Deepak Chopra, Marianne Williamson...you get the picture.

Heroes
I am a firm believer in the God within every human being. I believe that you do not have to be of a particular belief system to know God, you just have to know that God is always there. To me heroes are made, not born, and there is a hero in all of us.

My name is Laura. I am a 43-year old single mother to a beautiful 11-year old boy; his name is Laurance, he was named after me. Laurance is ADHD and, supposedly, mildly autistic, but the professionals cannot agree on whether he is autistic or not. I can say that he is a wonderful child; he is my blessing. Anyone who has ever met him will tell you that he is infectious. It is obvious to anyone reading this that he is my life; he is my everything. He is what I am about.

Recently, I added a new song to my music player called, "Always" which might be one of the best songs I've written so far. Tthe chorus was scored for an entire violin section, however, in studio, I had one violinist, Jan "Yes I Can" Sullins. I asked her to single handedly create the sound of a "Hollywood style" string section. This is almost like telling someone, "Please jump rope one handed 10 times while monkeys nip at your feet."
Lucky for me, Jan worked some magic and now you can hear it on track 1 in my music player. It's called "Always" and is from my upcoming album, "Awakening," to be released June 16th.
