Friday, September 25th


10am – 4:30pm
Fall Foliage Horseback Ride. Mt. Trail Rides, Canaan Valley. Enjoy the area’s fall foliage from horseback, Don’t forget your cameras! Identify yourself as a “Leaf Peeper” and receive a 10% discount. Reservations a MUST! Call 304-866-4652

Leaf Peepers Picnic on the Mountain, Canaan Valley Resort Scenic Chairlift ride, picnic for 2 for $30 per couple. Scenic Chairlift rides begin at 10am-4:30pm Picnic orders must be received 2 hours prior to arrival. Picnic includes for 2 people: scenic chairlift ride, fried chicken, salad, chips, cookies, bottled water. Ask about purchasing Sutter Home 187ml wine for $6 for 2 bottles. For reservations call 304-866-4121 ext 2616.

DTEMS Cake Walk. Davis Fire Hall, Davis. Come enjoy old fashion family fun. Many cakes to be won. If inclement weather, Cake walk will be moved inside.

Music, Purple Fiddle, Thomas. The Purple Fiddle is proud to host the bluegrass band “The High 48’s” (Josh Davis duo to open) A energetic, group that are guaranteed to get the crowd moving. They have an excellent sound rooted in traditional bluegrass with a country twist. $10 cover charge. Kids Free. For information 304-463-4040.

Fall Migration Birds Walk, CV NWR. Hike led by Casey Rucker. Meet @ the CVW Refuge Visitors Center in Canaan Valley. For more information 304-866-3858.

IOOF Breakfast IOOF Building, Davis. Join the “Oddfellows” organization in this feast of a breakfast! Pancakes, Buckwheat cakes, Eggs & Sausage gravy. $7 adults & $3.50 for kids. (12 & under).

Cabin Mountain Trail Hike, CVNWR Hike led by Master Naturalists. Meet at the CVW Refuge Visitors Center. A good way to enjoy the fall colors in the woods. For more information, 304-866-3858.

Davis Farmers Market, Hypno Coffee/Highland Prospects Parking Lot. Join us for the last market of the season!! Fresh, locally grown, in season produce available.

Appalachian Craft & Food Fair, Davis Fire Hall. Davis. Crafters & Artists from all over the region display their specialties. Many items for sale including; painted wood slates, ceramics, fabric crafts, baked goods and hot food from the kitchen by the Blackwater Rebekah Lodge ladies. For more information 304-259-5315.

Photo Contest, Davis Fire Hall. Davis. As you stroll through the Appalachian Craft & Food Fair, stop and cast your vote for your favorite photo. There will be an adult & junior category, along with a Black & White, professional and digital category. All photos must be matted and turned in to the Information Center by 5:00 p.m. Friday September 26th .Public Judging. Voting takes place from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Winners announced at 4pm. Tour of Davis Run For It 2K/5K Walk or Run, Davis Fire Hall. Sponsored by Tucker Community Foundation, proceeds from this unique race support a variety of community & charitable causes. The race is for all ages & abilities. Costumes encouraged, wheelchairs and leashed dogs welcome. 5k is USATF sanctioned. Pre-register before Sept. 15th or race day 8 a.m. Davis Fire Hall. Team judging 9 a.m. The race course winds through town and starts and finishes at the Davis Fire Hall. Entry fee $10. Revenge of the Rattlesnake Mountain Bike Race 50K+ mountain bike race in the Blackwater river & Canaan mountain area. will start at Blackwater bikes in Davis. Canaan Valley Institute Open House- Davis on Rt. 93, 2 miles east on right. Visit CVI’s new state of the art Research and Education Center which features new green technologies, including Eco-Machine and green roof. Tour the facility and join us for a “How to Read the River” hike at 1 pm.

Oktoberfest. Across from the Davis Fire Hall, Davis. Beer, music, dancing & food! A true Oktoberfest atmosphere. Sample treats from local businesses/organizations. Golden Knights-Army's Premiere Para-shooting Team- Davis. "The Golden Knights"-the Army's premiere Para-shooting team will jump into the Davis Riverfront Park- Please keep in mind that this event is weather conditions permitting. This events time and details will be updated accordingly-call 304-259-5315 (Tucker County Info Center) for updated details.

Blackwater Canyon Bike Ride Riders will depart from The Purple Fiddle at 1:00pm. Participants will not only enjoy the beauty of the canyon and the river views of the Hendricks to Bretz section of the Allegheny Highlands Trail, but will also learn about railroad history and future plans for AHT development. All downhill, the 12.5-mile ride will take approximately three hours including rest stops and exploration of historic sites. The ride is appropriate for all skill levels, but generally not recommended for children under 10. A parent or guardian must accompany children under 18. Helmets are required for all participants, who should carry plenty of water and dress for the weather. Mountain bikes or comfort bicycles are recommended for the packed dirt and gravel trail surface, but hybrid or cross bikes are also suitable. Elakala Trail Walk, Blackwater Falls State Park. Meet the naturalist in the Lodge Lobby for a walk along the Elakala trail. This trail winds along the canyons rim over a section of a creek waterfall and by some huge sandstone rock formations. Some steps, one mile, about one hour. For more information call 304-259-5216.

Duck Race, Beaver Creek Bridge,(behind Dollar General) Davis. Over 700 ducks are released into Beaver Creek (Located behind the Dollar General). First, Second, Third & Last duck to cross finish line wins $$. Duck Tickets are $2.00 each & can be purchased at the Information Center. Tickets must be purchased before 12:00 p.m. on Sunday.

Cranberry Woods Walk- BWFSP Gentle Trail Parking area Join us for a walk along the Yellow Birch Trail. Walk beneath the canopy of red spruce and eastern hemlock as we explore the northern coniferous forest of Blackwater Falls. Also we will see a mountain bog where wild cranberries grow. Along the way we may see and hear signs of red squirrels, black-capped chickadess, golden-crowned kinglets and other wildlife. Walk one mile. For more information, call 304259-5216.

14th Annual Pet Show, Parking lot across from DVFD, Davis. Your pet could win a prize for Best Trick, Best Dressed or Best of Show and many more categories. Show will take place rain or shine (if inclement weather, will be held under the tent) Sponsored by the Mountaineer Humane society.
