From auspicious beginnings at the Red Roofs Drama School (Maidenhead), followed by the usual school and church dramatic society events;
Leaf went on to become engaged primarily with Singing until studying dramatic arts at the age of 23 at Bexley College. This re-kindled his dreams of participating in Cinema and led ultimately to an interest in Directing. After completion of the course Leaf spent some time teaching piano and vocal skills, which led to an invitation to join a Manhattan Transfer style group for the cabaret scene called Optimistic Voices. The group went on to win a number of local talent competitions before placing second in their area pub competition (missing first by one point);held at the Black Cap in Camden Town.
This success was cathartic in as much as it gave enough credibility for them to gain agency representation, which in turn led to three and a half years touring the cabaret circuit in South East England. Once the group disbanded Leaf took time to develop his interest in Cinema Direction and ultimately produced and directed a movie-short entitled "Eva".
With no easy route into commercial film making however and limited funds, the options to continue were limited. Being a pragmatist Leaf elected to remain in the Leisure industry and take up offers of entertainment work based upon merit; the most notable of these was The Greenwich Street Party held to celebrate the Queens Golden Jubilee in 2000, and Lewisham Peoples Day 2006 alongside recording artists Angie Brown, Jason prince and the Klub Kidz.
Leaf currently runs the leafspage.com web site and business.
