Influences
Leah's parents can take full credit for Leah's impressive musical education... jazz greats like John Coltrane, Louis Armstrong and Billy Holiday were constantly in play, and Leah learned about the musical genius of The Beatles, Simon and Garfunkel, Carol King and Joni Mitchell long before she knew her multiplication tables or state capitals. Today, if Leah owned an Ipod, it would likely include old school Bonnie Raitt, Classic Rock favorites from The Doors and Pink Floyd, soul stylings from legends like Marvin Gaye, and the best of Blues chick Bessie Smith.

Leah Finkelstein was playing the piano long before her feet could touch the pedals, picked up the guitar when she was in high school and while in college, discovered her voice. At 19, she was playing nine gigs a week in Portland and at 22, struck out on her own in Boston, created the band "The Help," and played regular shows in and around the city. These days, she is happy to be home and has reincarnated herself once again with the band DEAR CLAUDIA. This band is a tribute to her late mother, local jazz-singer Claudia Finkelstein, with whom Leah credits for her musical gift. This is all original material that has been crafted into new creations with the collaborative efforts of Matt Hansen on Bass and Herb Clarke on drums. There will certainly be great things to come with this innovative trio.
The moon how it glitters on the ocean Venus above stays close linked in motion Dawn will appear a few hours away Here the magic of this moment forever will stay.
Macrocosm microcosm as above so below Windows to infinity wherein we must go That deep inner calling rises up to be free And yes it happens inside of you quite suddenly.
Listen now as the wind sings it song Its carries in its the melody a love sure and strong It is there for you notice to shelter cares today. So bind them up with feathers and toss them all way.
Be wise to learn the language of the heart In everything you do there you will start To dare a dream come true know it must be so And let it run, or let it fly may it soar let it go.
