Patty Griffin, Etta James, Bonnie Raitt...maybe these are more inspirations. I grew up listening to gospel music, Elvis, Otis Redding, Ricky Nelson, Johnny Cash and Merle Haggard. I could sing all the words to Garden Party and Okie from Muskogee when I was two. Quite a source of entertainment. When I say I've been doing this a long time, I mean it! I suppose these were my first influences. A little bit of bluesy and a little bit more twang. Of course, I switched to rock as soon as I could turn the dial, but it all comes back around.
Okay. I've been informed that my page is boring. Lack of info. I thought a song was enough, but I'll give it a go. I'm an acoustic musician in Raleigh, NC and a mother of a beautiful boy. He's ten now, so he prefers "ugly" or "tough" to beautiful, but he is what he is. I've played all over Raleigh, solo and in a band, and just recently joined the band Shotgun Romance, which is quite exciting. Let's see....I like football and the theater. I wish it was free. I'm somewhat addicted to "24". I love fresh mozzerella and mushrooms (the eatin' kind). Wine is wonderful and coffee is better, but I can't hold liquor. If I have to talk about something serious or start a conversation, I get really nervous. Might even act a little funny. Otherwise, I'm mostly smart-ass. Hmmm....I love to read anything. Fiction, non-fiction, kid's lit, directions...I've been married for about 200 years to a handsome fella. I like to play with toys, especially legos. I never liked Barbie, but it has nothing to do with sexism. I just don't understand her feet. I love to paint and play the piano and guitar. I like most all the colors and I think cotton feels nice. And I had oatmeal for breakfast. There. Very interesting.
