Leandro Enio Riccieri was born in Bs.As, Argentina. In the early beginnings of his career he was considered a skillfull and recognized drumer. He played in local underground bands such as Ficciones and a songwriter and singer Adrian Cayetano Paoletti..s band, with whom he recorded his second LP En la ruta del árbol en busca de la canción perfecta- (F.A.N discos). At that same time he completed his musician and composer studies at the school of Contemporary Music and participates as guitarist in Esteban Castell..s discographic solo debut Cubos (Índice Virgen). He was also invited as a drummer to the in live presentation of the fourth LP of band El otro yo Esencia: El otro yo del otro yo (Besótico Records). In this atmosphere of heady creativity he started modelling his artistic name, his alter ego: Viernes.(after the edition of his first single this name would become his new surname).
In 2000, Viernes is invited to form part in Gen 00, one of the four discs produced by Zeta Bosio ( Soda Stereo) and Sony Music Argentina, that gathered new emerging bands.
He made his appearance with theme Orfeo (imaginary soundtrack of surrealist writer Jean Cocteau..s movie) in a disc entitled Vanguardia.
Next year, with songs Amorlaberintos and Mary Shelley (both from the same imaginary soundtrack) he was included in the musical selection on the MP3 Users magazine August issue. Meanwhile, he composed soundtracks for different shorts filmed by independent directors such as Ana Fresco..s films: Odio la musica and Furia Siniestra (in which he also acts).
Soon afterwards, in July 2002, Viernes released his first single: Audiosaludos (Espartaco Discos). Here he features a collaboration with Juliana Gattas (from Miranda!) and also participated other guest/invited artists.The single contains three tracks and a videoclip directed by video-artist Mariela Bond. The single was received with audience acclaim, being edited twice and actually sold out both.
In 2003, Mariela Bond directed the video for the song Los dias, appearing actresses like Vanesa Strauch, Adriana Vazquez from Sergio Pángaro y Baccarat and Juliana Gattas, among others. Both videos were released on MTV and Rock & Pop TV.
During 2004, Leandro Viernes performed on stages at venues all over Argentina and Uruguay, while at the same time he worked hardly in the production of his most expected first album.
In April 2005, a record label from Uruguay (Live! Music Studios) released the album: Musica para los ojos, with the participation of several musicians like Julian Fraus (from Adicta), Gabriel de Piero and Tomás Wahl.
The album defies easy description, it is eclectic and imaginative way all along. It consists of nine tracks, two of them are covers (Dicha Feliz from Virus and Soy Libre from folklore singer Athahualpa Yupanqui), it also contains three bonus track remixes from different Djs like Scu ..Ba Da_Club and Marcelo Fabián. It is a dynamic and interactive CD, containing picture gallery and videoclip.
In late April, Leandro Viernes traveled to Colombia where he presented his new Album at Bogota..s disco El Pasha Club. Here he performed as main artist in the opening night of the local event Desfile Rock 2005. At the same time a compilation record that collects tracks from different Mexican and local artists was edited in Colombia. This album was named 001 Eje Records Presenta (released by Eje Records label) and Leandro was invited to participate with song Ansiedad.
During mid May, he participated in the official presentation of Música para los ojos, held in Pachamama disco in Montevideo (Uruguay..s capital city), featuring local artist Max Capote. That same month, different tv channels released the first video of the recent Lp named Azul Curazao. The video was made by director Alfonso De Lazzari and was performed by two well-known TV and cinema personalities such as Jazmín Rodríguez (tv host of show called Versus produced by Telefe channel) and Maria Alche (protagonic actress in movie La Niña Santa). This was eagerly accepted by the audience and led Leandro to be selected Alert Artist of the Month by MTV Channel, which consisted of a promotional interview, a review of the artist career and a recommendation as an Alert Artist, to be submitted to the audience poll, which successfully approved him.
In December 2005, Viernes participated on the second edition of Personal Fest, performing with bands such as Duran Duran, Macy Gray, Babasonicos, La Portuaria, among others.
For the Year 2006, he released the new videoclip of song Soy Libre (A. Yupanqui..s cover) and in April took part the official presentation of the album: Música para los ojos, in Bs As.
Today, Leandro Viernes performs in different places all over Buenos Aires. The band line up consist of himself as leader followed by musicians Pablo Kessel (electric guitar) and Motz (drums).
