YOU. I am influenced by all the music of our brothers and sisters before us. Open to and love every style. Thump'n beats, songwriters, women who can do it all, kick ass rhythm sections, awesome vocalists, skillful guitarists. Gotta love an artist who delivers emotion, a feel, shows their true selves, raw energy. Be REAL, BE YOU.
Elvis reportedly wore a ring sporting a gold lightning bolt and the Diamond encrusted letters TCB “ Taking Care of Business”. If Leanne Goose had access to Diamond letter TCBs they would not just be on a ring she would have them on earrings, her necklace and an anklet bracelet. As Leanne herself has stated “ I’m all about the business baby”.
Of course Leanne Goose is also about the music. And the songs she writes and performs are first and foremost in her creative life. However she is aware that to get her music out the people she needs to also take an active role in the business of making music. “ Without the business aspect ,I couldn’t possibly make a living. Being a professional musician can seem like a daunting task. But every time a new convert to my music comes to a show or buys a CD it is more than worth it”
Leanne’s latest album “Anywhere” serves notice that her and musical partner Laurie McNabb’s songwriting process will ensure success in the recording industry. Recorded in a cabin in her home land of Inuvik, NWT the entire CD is filled with catchy riffs, incredibly diverse vocal approaches and “I want to hear that again” songs.
The isolation of the North and the daunting beauty that hypnotizes everyone who lives or visits there seeps through almost every song. According to Leanne the title track “Anywhere” although solely written by Laurie is her personal favorite. “ Anywhere is about our life living up North. Feeling isolated, alone in our music and dying to get out in the world to play.”
Every song on “Anywhere” is a more than worthy chapter to the whole story of Leanne’s music and songwriting. The haunting , icy riff of Laurie’s guitar dancing around Leanne’s wistful, breathy vocal like fading Northern Lights in “Look Inside”. The straight out rocker “Burns” proclaims the heart of Leanne’s live show like a flashing neon sign. The lilting melody and soothing harmonies of “Curse the Night” opens a window to yourself. Each song promises a unique journey and insight to Leanne’s world inside and outside the North.
Any time an album has the ability to both cause you to reflect and than rock out, you know you are listening to the real thing. Leanne Goose and Laurie McNabb are tunesmiths of the highest order. Couple that with Leanne’s no holds barred stage persona and Laurie’s guitar arsenal and you have a musical cocktail that will leave you shaken and stirred.

MY TURN--Welcome to my space. The CD is out and on sale at CD PLUS stores across Canada.I've played in bands on and off for years and now I am working on my own thing FINALLY. I have to give props to Mr.Laurie MacNabb for all his work. I have just begun to write songs for myself. All I want do to make music and meet new folks to make beautiful music.
We recorded my album in a little cabin in the Yukon in the middle of nowhere with my friends Rolly Mitton and Bill Sharons rig. Slept in the truck to make room for the gear and avoid the mice. Some songs, I recorded standing on a chair! I had lots of help to get this album done so THANK YOU!
I love music and other musicians period. Grew up at my Grannys feet listening to classic country over the radio while the she sewed. I could sing those Goldies til the wee hours. Our life living of the land is vastly different to the urban life today. Those survival skills learned early on in life totally apply to my life trying to pay the rent as a musician = SURVIVAL.
WHAT-WHO I LOVE!
Anything by HEART, Lynard Skynards' Simple Man is choice! Wrapped up in Alice in Chains, Toshi Reagon, Pink Floyd, Nikka Costa (Like a Feather & Stuck on You is influencing my writing in a big way these days), Jimmy Hendricks, Amy Winehouse, The Doors, Sam Cooke, The Allman Bros., anything by Chris Cornell/Audioslave, Janes Addiction, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Eagle & Hawks - I See Red, or old skool music from 70s when I am feeling mischievious.
Everyday its something new. I'm singing all the time about laundry, breaking hearts, hair cuts, purple soda. Catch me humming something in the line up at the store. Thanks for stopping by.
Peace. Lea
