Currently residing in Paisley, Scotland & recording in a cramped attic apartment, Small Town Boredom’s Fraser McGowan & Colin Morrison create whiskey soaked tales of loss & longing providing constant reminders of what was & what could have been. By combining various lo-fi production techniques, subtle field recordings & effects, sparse acoustic arrangements & delicate vocals, Small Town Boredom plays like a mini-soundtrack to those quiet winter nights spent alone.
With an EP & split 7” single previously released on the now-defunct Arizona label Keep Recordings, Small Town Boredom found a new home with London label The Remains Of My Estate. Their debut album was released in 2007 on limited edition vinyl.
The album was called ‘Autumn Might Have Hope’. It was a testament to sorrow & self pity. To say it was a difficult record is an understatement, never fluctuating once from its relentless downbeat misery.
Critics compared its “intimate ambience & elegant unassuming beauty” to bands like Hood, Boduf Songs and Dakota Suite among others. A brief UK tour in support of this record followed, where they were fortunate to share the stage with such artist as Adrian Crowley, Rothko, Eagleowl & Paul Goodwin to name but a few.
Small Town Boredom had gone further than they had ever planned, something had to give. By the end of the tour nerves & alcohol was all that was left. All passion had gone. On returning home Colin moved to the Lake District to work & Fraser stayed in their home town of paisley where he spent two months in Dykebar Hospital’s APC. Surprisingly this was to become Small Town Boredoms most reflective period so far. Through constant travel & different recording locations they were to spend the next year slowly crafting, recording & rediscovering a longing for music.
If ‘Autumn Might Have Hope’ was the drunken wreckage, then what was being recorded this time was the harsh, sobering morning after. A life now in reins, a record full of regret, disappointment & broken faith.
Small Town Boredom’s new album ‘Notes From The Infirmary’ is due for release later this year.

Some kind folks have said some kind things:
“a fragile and haunting thing. St John's guitar jangles discordantly from time to time, the harmonium wheezes gently in the background, and the eerie warblings of a saw occasionally rises from the ether, lending the whole thing a comforting, after-hours feeling reminiscent of James Yorkston or David Thomas Broughton” 4/5 The Skinny magazine
“harmoniums, saws and guitars creak and groan into a musical balm and is simply the best and most surprising thing I've heard in ages” Lonesome Music
"Like Alchemy is simply one of the best EPs I’ve heard in 2008 and the title track is one of this year’s most beautiful songs. Simple as that.” The Daily Growl
“Bill Callahan with more orchestral flair.. Like Alchemy is a mesmerizing and compelling EP from a talented newcomer” Captain Obvious
For the Thoughts You Never Had EP available to buy direct from the eagleowl website - £5 (plus p&p). 5 track CD limited to 500 copies - each folded, screen printed and individually numbered by hand.
"A wonderfully atmospheric piece of slowcore post-folk. " - The List (single of the fortnight), 4/5
"(eageowl)'s slow-burning, fragile folk refuses to betray youthful energy, instead moving with care to preserve the peace behind each song. " - The Skinny, 4/5

Today, I'd like to introduce my favorite Swedish indie artist "Peace in Our Time". Peace In Our Time is running on by a Swedish singer / songwriter "Johan Regner". His new full length album "A Glimpse Of Happiness" has been released by US indiepop CD-R label "Series Two Records".
The album has wonderful heartwarming acoustic sound and funny electronica popbeats tunes. As soon as you listen to the album title song "A Glimpse Of Happiness", you will fall in love with his tunes. But first of all, you need to listen to his 4 songs on his MySpace page. Because the album is including the 4 songs. Maybe, if you listen to the 4 songs, you will want to listen to more his songs.
His gentle singing voice wraps you soft. His beautiful melody makes your heart warm. His funny electronica popbeats give you tiny pop feelings. And when we listen to the album can share love of music with him. It's just "Peace In Our Time" !!!
I think we are happy. We can listen and enjoy his songs.
