Little Eiffel met the Birthday Girl while walking along the river Isis in Oxford; they bonded over poetry readings, the same shoe size, fascinators and their common love of lonely instruments. So they decided to combine forces and start a Death Disco band with lots of handclaps, distortion pedals, shouting and awesome sweet harmonies. They both also live in close proximity to the Co-Op on Iffley Road, Republic of Cowley.
‘Pop Noir’. Swedish pop starlet Little Eiffel sometimes play and record with NY outfit the Ladybug Transistor and Oxford circuit bender Mewgatz. She also has a secret past playing in Swedish sleepy pop band Alma and Australian indie rock band Sea Life Park, amongst other things supporting Placebo. She’s also lent her voice to the Lucksmiths, Darren Hanlon, Anthony Atkinson, Richard Easton and Muzzlewhite. She loves airports, Twin Peaks, her bicycle and the Magnetic Fields.
‘Goth Nouveau’. Southern belle The Birthday Girl gothed it up in all girl outfit The Schlas La Las, breaking hearts extensively around the UK before playing their farewell show on the main stage at Truck Festival in September 07. After musicing some with Alexander’s Festival Hall, she became multi-instrumentalist and shoe fetishist in the Vatican Cellars, alongside Victorian gentleman Simon Hughes Esq. She provides a similar service for indie popstar Gregory Webster. She loves high heels, vegan roast, Stephen Fry in most forms as well as the Cure.
Before even writing their first song together, they were asked to do a cover for London label Where It’s At Is Where You Are also known as WIAIWYA! whose upcoming Bruce Springsteen cover album, "play some pool, skip some school, act real cool" is due for release in March 2009. It features 36 tracks from, among others, the Wave Pictures, Darren Hayman, JENIFEREVER, and Help Stamp Out Loneliness.
