    leaves of dryope's Interests
GeneralThe most general sense of my interests (if you can call this long list "general"):

Books, reading, writing, learning, independent and foreign films, comedies, Halloween, September and October, autumn, trees, moon, felines, feminism, ecofeminism, environmentalism, pen pals, e-pals, long solitary walks, Tae Bo, fitness and health, deviantart, zombies, zombie flicks, computers, fantasy art, mythology, paganism, fairy tales, faeries, literature, Netflix, libraries, LGBTI issues, goth music, industrial music, photography, watching b-boys and b-girls, watching breakdancers, goth photography, Gothic art, John William Waterhouse, creativity, smoothies, vegetarianism, long skirts, and much more than I can even list here. =)

MusicMostly goth, industrial, and techno, but I listen to lots of things, NOT COUNTRY. Oingo Boingo, :wumpscut:, Killing Joke, Pink Floyd, the Scissor Sisters, Slowdive, Leonard Cohen, Fear Factory, Bile, Midnight Syndicate, Juno Reactor, Lords of Acid, David Bowie, Faith No More, Nina Simone, The Cure, The Smashing Pumpkins, Tool, A Perfect Circle, B-52s, Stone Temple Pilots, Daft Punk, Ministry, The Crystal Method, Prodigy, Marilyn Manson, Lycia, etc.
MoviesI love watching just about anything: drama, comedy, independent, foreign, horror, classics, fantasy, adventure, GLBT, documentary, etc. Some favorite titles, in no particular order:

Lars and the Real Girl
The Boondock Saints
Stranger Than Fiction
Pan's Labyrinth
Ghost World
Wayne's World
But I'm A Cheerleader
Edward Scissorhands
The Nightmare Before Christmas
Dawn of the Dead (both versions)
Shaun of the Dead
Wedding Singer
The Crow
Pink Floyd: The Wall
Clerks
Mallrats
Dogma
Hero
The House of Flying Daggers
Transamerica
Pirates of the Caribbean
Requiem for a Dream
The Fountain
Pinocchio
The Care Bears Movie
Lord of the Rings
Scream trilogy
Finding Neverland
Donnie Darko
Saved!
Latter Days
The 40-Year-Old Virgin
Serenity
The Craft
Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?
The Haunting (1963 version)

In particular, I have an obsession with anything and everything relating to zombies. I enjoy just about any movie made about zombies (Night of the Living Dead, Dead Alive, 28 Days Later, Resident Evil, Army of Darkness, Fido, etc.).

TelevisionThe Office, Buffy the Vampyre Slayer, Roseanne, The Simpsons, Ugly Betty, The L Word, House M.D., The Dog Whisperer, Monk, Futurama, Xena: Warrior Princess, Arrested Development, Meerkat Manor, Newsradio, Firefly, That '70s Show, South Park, Seinfeld, Charmed
BooksAnything with words. I have a weakness for fantasy or anything with a fairy tale feel to it, or anything with a feminist angle or that relates to mythology and witchcraft.

I adored Carol J. Adams' The Sexual Politics of Meat: A Feminist-Vegetarian Critical Theory. One book I think everyone should read is The Autobiography of Malcolm X.

Some of my favourite works of fiction are Amy Tan's The Kitchen God's Wife and The Joy Luck Club, Alice Walker's The Color Purple and The Temple of My Familiar, Kate Chopin's The Awakening, Charlotte Perkins Gilman's The Yellow Wallpaper, and Shirley Jackson's The Haunting of Hill House, in addition to things like The Lord of the Rings (and all related materials) and the Harry Potter series.

I also really enjoy books about trees, such as Ancient Trees: Trees That Live for 1000 Years by Anna Lewington and Remarkable Trees of the World by Thomas Pakenham. Books about language, punctuation, grammar, and writing are fun for me too, especially Eats, Shoots, and Leaves: The Zero Tolerance Approach to Punctuation by Lynne Truss.

I could go on and on about books!

   leaves of dryope's Blurbs
About me:
Introvert with a strong attachment to trees, the element of water, and the moon and whose primary passions are books, photography, and films.

Unlike most people I tend to meet, I don't enjoy going to parties, I don't enjoy getting drunk, and I would rather be alone with a book than go out to hang around with big crowds of noisy strangers. Really, my idea of "a fun night out" actually involves staying in with a book and a movie, or possibly a trip to the library, or a long walk through several of the area parks. I'm a dreamer and live inside my imagination a lot of the time.

I spend most of my spare time watching TV shows and films on DVD, taking three-hour walks on the bike trails with my camera in tow, exploring Quarry Hill, photographing my everyday world, reading at the Rochester Public Library, or trading jokes and spending time with my sweetheart of 10 years.

Who I'd like to meet:
...people who are understanding, open-minded, sensitive, interesting, and well-balanced. Artists, photographers, introverts, writers, creatives, free thinkers, solitary types, and darkly inclined individuals. People who can recognize the beauty in the everyday world around us, in both darkness and light. People who strive to create art and beauty out of their surroundings. Also, people who are interested in beginning or leading a healthy and fulfilling lifestyle.

I welcome anyone who wants to add me; however, I do ask that you message me to introduce yourself and tell me why you're adding me, or at least leave me a comment to say hello. I just like to know that people are actually reading my profile, rather than clicking around and adding random people. I'm here to actually get to know people and make new (and reconnect with old) friends! =)

Thanks for reading!

I think I sent you an invite, and it won't let me re-invite. You add the mobsters app, then you go to the tab that says "My Mob" and accept the invite that I sent you.

The game is fun. Did you ever play pimpwars when we were on excite? It's kind of like that.

Courtney has sent you a Jenny Appleseed plant for your (Lil) Green Patch.

Could you help by sending a plant back? Together we can fight Global Warming!

Send Courtney plant back

This is cool, and it helps the environment.

I use it a lot on facebook :)

Hi!
Hopefully we'll be going to Disneyland the first week of March. I've requested my vacation for the 3rd-9th of March.
Things have come up so I'm not so sure about going. :(

Yeah I could have sworn I commented back to you on photos but I don't see my comments there. So Happy New Year to you as well. :)

Thanks for the message! I'm back online now, we bought a Dell. I'm most likely getting my own Mac in a few months. It'll be nice to be on again. Now I just need to get aim or msn or something.

Oops forgot to answer your 2nd question. My brother wears contacts more than glasses. He didn't start wearing glasses and/or contacts until he got into the military.

They're comparing the same pocket knives my mom got for all the guys. I think this picture is so comical. It's hard to tell if they posed for this one or not but I think they were joking around like, "Hey, look, you got the same one?!"
