"EVENING CHILL/MONTRÉAL OF THE MIND, THE NEW RECORD IS OUT NOW ON CD & 12" VINYL!"
"Le Corbeau (the first record: 1. blood orange moon, 2. burnt violet sky, 3. yeux noirs, 4. 1957, 5. dreamland, 6. sawtoothed hills, 7. angels, 8. angelo) was recorded & mixed between september 2006 - september 2007 by Kenneth Amundsen (Mindy Misty/Handmade Records) & Pål "Påsan" Lillevold onto 16-track tape.
All the rules were broken. Imperfect intonation, a good deal of reverb, a good deal of repetition & verse-chorus-verse, sleigh bells & other bells are heard on almost every track. No editing, no hooks, no noise-breaks, just plain old impressionistic rock'n'roll riffs played thru from beginning to end.
Lee Ranaldo's guitar (left speaker) on Sonic Youth's "the bedroom" was used as reference for the guitar sound. "Lee No.2" for the acoustic guitar. An instrumental version of the Velvets' "Guess I'm Falling In Love" inspired the overall sound.
The song "Tsunami" by Skywave was a rough reference for the vocal sound, & like in the song "Come Back" by the Misfits, i put a lot of reverb on the bass, & tried to get a kind of really oldschool "1950's" bass sound.
The bird sounds, swallows, a raven, ++, come off old 7-inch records of bird sounds, recorded onto cassette.
The drums were a snare & a floor-tom.
The guitars and basses used were: A Silvertone 1457 amp-in-case, a 1966 Fender Jaguar (seen in the slideshow), Rickenbacker 4001 & Gibson semihollow bass + a couple acoustic flat-tops.
The only amplifier used both for guitars and bass was a Peavey Backstage Plus 35W transistor amp, which has really great reverb.
Mastering was done by the great Tom Kvålsvoll."
